  1. to play the devil's advocate:
    1. cap is going up and inflation.
    2. At least they did not sign him through 40 years like they did with Lundqvist.
    3. He was probably not playing so good because of contract negotiation., this should calm him down
    4. Quick is 38 and still plays well so Shesterkin unless something happens should be very good too.

but yeah I agree I hate big long term contracts for anybody.

  2. Contracts fine. Igor’s worth every penny. He wins games for the rangers. Proven it in the playoffs. Vezinha winner. Best in the league. What’s the problem?

  3. Well if Igor inked that deal I better hear no complaints and we gonna need to see another shutout with the penguins and he better do the lundqvist and get em all the way to the promise land with 92 million

  4. If not Shesterkin then who? What are the Rangers options? Do you have any goalies in the minors coming up? Are there any free agent goalies available of his caliber? If they let him go the fanbase would be pissed off. Can you imagine if another team signs him and they win a cup. He's a fan favorite you have to bring him back.

  5. I do not think that it is that bad. You had to give him 11.5 a year. He shows up in the second half and in playoffs.

  6. I gotta disagree with you here. Yes it’s an overpay and yes Igor has been greedy this whole time but if they let him go they’d have nobody decent enough to fill his shoes. They have plenty of cap space now with trouba gone and the cap is gonna go up every year.
