Troy Terry scored twice, but the Montreal Canadiens earned a 3-2 shootout victory over the Ducks tonight at Bell Centre.
The loss dropped Anaheim to 10-12-4 on the season and 5-3-3 on the road.
Terry provided the Anaheim offense with his team-leading seventh and eighth goals of the season. Cam Fowler, Jansen Harkins, Alex Killorn and Frank Vatrano collected assists. Lukas Dostal made 19 saves in his 16th start of the season.
Acquired from the New York Rangers on Friday, defenseman Jacob Trouba made his Ducks debut in the loss, finishing with four shot attempts, five hits, two takeaways and one blocked shot in 22:35 of ice-time.
Patrik Laine and Kirby Dach scored for the Canadiens, who improved to 11-14-3 with their third win in the last four games. Sam Montembeault earned the win between the pipes with stops on 27-of-29 Anaheim shots.
Montreal went ahead first on a power-play goal less than three minutes after puck drop, when captain Nick Suzuki fed Laine in the left circle for a one-timer past the lunging Dostal.
Laine, back from a left knee injury suffered in the preseason, has scored three goals in his first four games with Montreal. With the goal, he passed former Minnesota Wild captain Mikko Koivu for tenth in NHL history by a Finnish player.
Anaheim would answer by the end of the first on a strong transition play by Terry, who first found Fowler with a cross-ice pass off the rush and then followed it up by swiping home a rebound chance just outside the Montreal crease.

Lane Laine Fusion Dance – any big Dragon Ball fans? 🐉💥 Nah? Ok, got it.
This video took some time to get going ⏳ – I think I've got a target on my back right now 🎯… I'll explain in my next video, but now would be a good time to support me by hitting "like" 👍 and commenting! 💬 I really want to see some comments today, guys 🙏 I'm on low sleep 😴 and need a boost! ⚡
Any idea why no Struble? Just JB’s turn to play?
I thought Dach looked good tonight. Had a little breakdown midway but def ended strong, ENG notwithstanding
That look from Slaf to Dach, Dach’s body language and the hug he gave slaf said “thank you for ending this drought”
Prime announcers are awful
For me xhekaj and a good game defensively and a lot a good recuperation in his zone except for the penalty he play solid and did not rush play like he use to do
Still at least one more against a bad team Pitts. We lost to a good team "WASH" several of the others can't score Nash the worst in the league the Isles been struggling all around.MTL is no longer worst in league for plus/minus but bundled in with 3 other teams Pitts/SJ/Nash.Anaheim is last in their division so yeah we are playing some pretty bad teams of late.
MTL remains last in shots on goal and outshot by the last place Ducks 29-21 so we were below our season avg.Does any of that sound like a progressing team we see a lot of hype and praise this guy and that guy yet we still don't get shots on net still bad 5 on 5.Laine will not help this team switch Cole to Laine for the goals is not a plus it is just moving numbers from one guy to the next.
Hutson and Matheson scare me every time they touch the puck they are making too many stupid decisions.Savard+Arber are you kidding me MSL that is slow and slower they struggle badly to move the puck out of their end and were often passing back n froth behind the net trying to buy enough time to get some room.Arber is at least ok once he gets moving forward Savard is SLOW everywhere all the time.
Dach/Dvorak/Savard get rid of them I don't even want them on Laval.
Laine/Hutson getting all the praise/hype Gallagher was our best player AGIAN like many nights.Defensively nobody is "getting it" terry's goal 4…FOUR guys back right in the slot and NOBODY is covered not the guy with puck or Terry who just passed it and followed in for the goal.
Hutson is just great to watch… such fast dynamic play and looks like he has the puck on a string! Arby still played ok, i think that penalty he took the other player actually had Arbys arm pinned in his armpit… Dachs penalty was extremely frustrating, but improved otherwise. Monty was great and really fun game to watch! Top lines looked dangerous! Side note: Slaf does seem to be improving and looked a lot better
Last nights game was definitly a fun one.
I think the lack of experience is what seems to be the issue when it comes to the habs not being able to show consistency for 60 consecutive minutes . That will get fixed over time as the young guys eventually become veterans .
I really liked Dach last night , his confidence is getting back to where it needs to be and watching his reaction after his goal felt like some of the pressure was coming off his shoulders .
Hutson keeps impressing everyone and improving every night . The ceiling on this kids potential is sky high , imagine what he will be like in a couple of years .
Our power play is on the verge of becoming top tier with Laine , Suzuki and Hutson . Imagine what it might be like when Demidov crosses over next year .
Penalty kill squad is also doing very well along with Monty being very strong so if these aspects of the habs game show improvement and consistancy i feel it might become a turning point in the rebuild .
For the sandwich place question , i’m from Montreal so it would be a sin not to mention smoked meat shops like Schwartz , Dunn’s or Le Roi du smoked meat .
But if we are talking about « Subway like » places my vote goes for Dagwoods . Similar to Subway but more high end in terms of quality and freshness .
Very happy you got to 6k and i see you getting to 10k sooner than later . 🎉
Hands down my favorite channel for habs content ! 👍
…..hutsaine??? Lainon??
Great video as always 😊
Bossa on Wellington street in Montréal. Highly recommend the meatball!
Pretty evenly matched game. Great goaltending all the way around. Definitely would vote for more breakaway practice for our team.
Hi the game was fun to watch Laine and Hudson are sick and I would’ve liked to see Zegras!
Caufield has an insane wrister! It comes off his stick like a bullet
Anderson needs some coaching about how to score goals, rather than just shooting right at the center of the goalie. 😮
The referees ignore most of the penalties committed against the Canadiens.
As always…… an enjoyable video. Thanks dude
Glad to see the 2nd line improving every game, Laine is really firing em up! 7:25 Based take. Embellishment gets on my nerves…

HFTV should get a hold of ya in a bit
Loved the pickle jar comment. Keep up the great work!
Those Anaheim jerseys are horrendous 🥴🤢🤮 Wow.
Laine, 4 points/3 goals in 4 games after being off for a year…amazing.
Bonjour-Hi
Listen to your recap with a chicken parm extra BOMBA from BOSSA is the s**t
🙂 Good game, despite moments of…lost focus..? Quite a few missed chances again, though. Dostal was superb, besides the mistake he made on the 2 – 2 goal. And Laine is…Laine. 😉 I hope he really gets going in near future. Looking prrretty good already 🙂
Have to say you turned out to be my go to guy covering the Habs
