Zās problem last season was injuries. We just started the season and Cronin hasnāt found good line pairings for anyone. Zegras doesnāt get enough ice time with good line mates.
Over rated
When Zegras isnāt injured, heās a decent player but no means a Pasta , McDavid, Mc.Kinnon or a Tzkachuck . Heās definitely a 2nd liner imo . Unfortunately injuries have plagued his career.

while things could change, at the moment I'd have to say overrated, not terribly, but still.. his best year would have placed him about 78th in points overall last year and 98th in goals…

the only comparison i can make of Trevor Zegras is to Odell Beckham jr. Can put up points and build their identity around highlight never before seen plays (goals), but not quality of leadership or team play, just stardom and bringing fans to a game is the only possible way i can describe him.

I watched him play against the Canucks recently. Honestly, he was a ghost out there. He's extremely weak in board battles and his compete level is terrible. I don't know if he's the type of player you win with in your top 6. He may rack up some points and score a few highlight reel goals, but I would pass on him. I'd rather have a player like Ivan Barbashev over him.
I feel he honestly just needs confidence. he needs to keep putting pucks on net as when he plays more aggressive he produces. I think seeing that first goal go in, the flood gates for him and his confidence will open.
Zegras has all the skill in the world.
His negatives are his poor d play which is lack of dedication and determination

Once he's traded I believe he's getting a career high season by the 2nd season with his new team. 2021 WJC Team USA Trevor Zegras was a different animal and it needs to be uncaged again.
