  1. Slafkovsky has been horrible, makes easy plays look hard. This is like his sophomore slump. Putting him on the top line isn’t going to help him.

  2. Martin St. Louis is using Juraj Slafkovský as nothing more than a screen in front of the goalie, completely wasting his talent and potential. Slafkovský has the size and skill to be a dominant offensive force, but instead, he’s stuck in a role where he’s just blocking the goalie’s vision or chasing pucks along the boards. He doesn’t have linemates who can create space for him, and he’s not being given the opportunity to use his creativity or goal-scoring instincts.

Right now is the time to develop young players and build combinations for the future. This is the rebuilding phase—when the priority should be maximizing the potential of these players, not stifling them. When the time comes to compete for trophies, there won’t be room to focus on development. If they don’t take advantage of this opportunity to grow their young talent now, they risk not having fully realized players when it matters most. This is a coaching mistake that needs to be corrected immediately.

  3. His hockey IQ is very low. He seems to need to see things happen before he can react. He doesn't know how to anticipate plays.

Sure you can have Suzuki and Caufield carry him like last year but will that really fix is hockey IQ problem or just hide it ? What's best ?

Suzuki and Caufield can anticipate plays to such a degree that they can quickly position themselves before things unfold. Same thing with Newhook and Evans.

I enjoyed watching Suzuki-Caufield-Newhook. They were really dangerous. If they can spend more time together, it'll only get better.

What's more concerning though is Dach. The guy is just constantly trying to ram the puck into the o-zone with no creativity / dead end plays

  4. Slaf's problem is Slaf, he doesn;t work hard, loses too many battles, he does do better with suzuki and caufild. Demidov will be fine with dach laine next year. Hopefully dach gets it together

  5. I agree with putting Slaf on the first line, but then the problem becomes : Where do you put newhook? He's too fast for Dach and Laine who are both not trusting their knees at the moment, and breaking up Dvorak or Evans' lines to reshuffle the roster (again) is kinda risky given how well these two lines have been playing (within their given roles).

  6. St. Louis has been terrible, maybe Montreal should try to get the best coach and not a coach that speaks French? Or is that ridiculous to say?😂

  7. slaf’s problem is he tries to play like he’s 5’10 170 lbs, when he’s like what 6’4 220 or smth like that, he needs to learn how to use his physical attributes to his advantage. Marty was able to help guys like nick and cole because he was also an undersized player, but these big guys are just flailing around like giraffes with skates because they have no idea how to use their bodies to their advantage.
