This whole long shots thing is very concerning. How do you get through multiple years of pro hockey without someone saying woah you have to do a better of tracking the puck on long shots. The fact the issue is still so pronounced worries me. I'd think that a good amount of effort must have already gone into solving this fundamental flaw with minimal results.
Are we going to blame that all on Silovs? The forwards were awful in that game the only forward checking (and not over shooting) was Hoglander and he hardly played. Boeser was okay and Hughes was fine on defense but the forwards didn't check at all in this game. They didn't press the opposing D in their defensive zone. All they did was stack the box, let the other team pass it wherever they felt like, and screen their own goalie… yes Silovs was bad but the team made it worse on him
Ight bro enough rage bait put demko in the game would’ve been 3-0 at best every line played poor some worse than others arty can’t play offense and defense for us
He’s not ready for Nhl
Who said that? Like maybe 4 people and it was never a serious comment when they did.
Silovs clearly needs to go get some games in Abby. I think Tolopilo should have a look. He's the highest paid active goaltender on the NHL payroll btw all.
I agree even I wasn't excusing him most of the goals came on 2 on 1 and our team gave it away he hasn't played in like 2 weeks.
I did blame the team played poorly most of them and they all said it and took accountability that it wasn't Silvos fault he was left out to dry with hardly any support besides the puck deflecting then going in the net as well.
I was on Tocchet when he also said it was not Silvos fault but people were quick to judge the goalie when it was 6-0 .
i was one of the unwashed masses saying arty looked like 1A stopper. he'll come back but he's looking his age this year. patera just got a shutout 2 days ago. this team has several alarm bell issues. 11.6, the 3rd pairing, debrusk and hronek for starters.
canucks fans missing quite a few chromosomes
I think our defence last playoffs was underated, too much credit to Silovs
The defence hung him out to dry. The canucks are average at best this year.
I wasn’t wrong. He had a miracle run in the playoffs, but up until the playoffs I was saying if you watch him closely, he’s not tracking the puck. He especially struggles to track the puck when shots are taken from the point.
Silovs comes to life in high stakes games. Sucks for meaningless games.
Silovs is still young. People hyped him up too much based on the playoff run. I wouldn't have minded if he spends another season in the minors and the team signs a seasoned backup, which they have now. Let him develop and don't ruin him.
The people saying we should trade Demko were the extreme minority, not the majority of the fanbase.
Arty obviously needs another year spent in Abbotsford, that was always the likely thing to happen once demko gets back.
the team has hung him out to dry in his 3 starts this season, yes he has let in some bad ones but that's always going to happen with a young guy.
anyone who thought trading demko was an option this off season needs to put down the pipe
Lmao all? No nigga your just a retard thinking we shouldve trade demko for silov
I'm going to remain positive and refrain from commenting on our beloved Canucks for awhile…these men are professionals and know what needs to be done. Go Canucks, go!!!
As bad as he was vs the Devils the defense was the bigger issue imo. Also yeah you can't win if you don't score
"Time and time again", mr grammar.
Wow this is a big deal?? When we blow out other teams life goes on for them everyone catches a beating sometimes. Im so thankful social media didnt exist in 2003 when we lost 6-0 vs st louis in game 1 round 1 ppl would not shutup until game 2. Yes it was worrisome but that was playoffs ppl had a better reason to worry yet we still came back to win the series this is damn early in the season
Silovs has always been raw, but with tons of potential. Lets not forget, Jacob Markstrom wasn't even a NHL starter until he was 27. Silovs is currently the same age as Bubble Demko…. and even Demko didn't become a starter until he was 25 (Ben Bishop was brought in as the #1 and Demko was backup prior).
List of NHL starters and age they became the #1:
Shesterkin – 25
Saros – 24
Sorokin – 26
Andersen – 24
Binnington – 25
Georgiev – 26
Ullmark – 26
Let Silovs have at least 2-3 more seasons of development before writing him off as an one-hit wonder.
Yeah Demko needs to come back and Silovs sent down to grow. But, also Tocchet needs to not play Silovs against the best teams in the league. He should have played vs Chicago, Sharks, Ducks etc, while Lankinen should be playing in big games.
I sung his praises last season too.
We not wrong, he just went crazy after getting contract and start slacking. And life has changed for him. Silovs will be amazing when he starts thinking of putting in extra work.
It’s funny, people said the same things about Thatcher when he fell off after he had a good few games in his Cinderella start. He came back and now we can’t imagine the crease without him. Silo s will be fine, whether that’s here or somewhere else, he’ll be great.
I've been very happy with Lankinen. He's given us everything we can ask of a goalie.
How were we wrong about Silov, he was up front and center in leading the canucks to the depth they achieved.
Like Petterson, players may have down periods.
Is Silov being tagged already?
You were ALL wrong when you said “Canucks are good” Hahahah . Losers
I might be biased cause im a latvian. But we have a good goalie school and mind you he is 23 and even the best goalies have hard games. Hes still better then a lot of goalies in nhl. Now does he need maybe a examination of sorts and practice yeah but you dont get a iihf 2023 and last seasons play off type a results from a goalie who is bad or mid. He is just young probably bit shook and needs to get it together which is easier sed rhen done. He will grow into it. Cant write him off yet.
