It’s been a rough sophomore season for Connor Bedard as he leads a Blackhawks team that is currently sitting at the bottom of the NHL standings. Adding to this undesirable situation is the firing of Luke Richardson as head coach. All of this begs the question, are the Blackhawks failing Bedard? Domino’s That’s Hockey discusses the issues in Chicago and considers how Bedard will handle not being selected for Team Canada.

In contrast San Jose has been doing it the right way with Celebrini. Case in point Celebrini is roommates this season with Smith who was the 4th overall pick in 2023 and have another talented young players on the roster with Eklund too. A year from now the likes of Musty, Bystedt, possibly Dickinson, and a couple of others also could spend some of next season up with San Jose. Not to mention Sharks have Askarov too as their potential franchise goalie for the next 10+ years who has started a couple of games this season.
Celebrini -18 y/o
Smith – 19 y/o
Eklund – 22 y/o
Musty – 19 y/o
Dickinson – 18 y/o
Mukhamadullin – 22 y/o
Bystedt – 20 y/o
Graf – 22 y/o
Askarov – 22 y/o
Sharks have all the makings to have one of the best young cores in the very near future and that doesn't include if they land a top 3 or 4 pick in the 2025 draft and end up with another young talent like Hagens, Martone, Misa, or Schaefer too.
The Hawks could have drafted Demidov to play with Bedard and instead drafted a defenseman for the "team". YIKES. Demidov can stickhandle and pass and he's uber talented offensively and creative. Hawks = mismanaged. They weren't even thinking about Bedard with the selection of a defenseman. Demidov could have been his winger for his whole career. Wowzer. How good would Patrick Kane look right now in Chicago? Kane to Bedard for the PPG, oh wait my bad the Blackhawks organization sucks.
Chicago is a failed organization
Hope they get a coach that wont give anything free to Bedsy. And also some real leader is needed.
This was the same talk as mcdavid years back lol
He’s in his 2nd year in the league lol. We live in such a microwave world. Everything is right now. It’s going to take 4-5 years to build around him. It always does.
Took the Avs a long time to get to where their at
San jose is in a better place now celebriai e is better because of the youth around him
Let me answer the question – YES.
The real question is TSN failing themselves…..answer is yes.
No the reverse.
When they didn't make him the Captain, that itself was a slap in the face by the organization. The hawks have at least 3 AHL'ers that can play right now in the NHL, bring them over now. Olympics isn't the big dance, check the ratings, people don't give a shit about that. It's all about the damn playoffs
I know Bedard is young (but the nhl is a young league) and I wish him a long and successful career, but I just don't see it, help or not. He's ends up on his kness in the slightest amount of traffic. He has that wippy-flexy "hockey stick" trick shot thing that goalies are figuring out – but lacks serious power and drive compared to all the young greats he was touted to be like (thru no fault of his own. He cam be dangerous if he plays with other superstars to leave him room, but if he's the focus, not so much. He IS a lot like Kane in that regard.
Did the Avs ruin Mackinnon for being historically bad when he was on the team? These moron talking heads need soemthing to talk about.
Yes, the hawks are failing bedard lol
Kyle Davidson is too scared to let the young players grow on the team and is just letting lots of washed up players fill up high level roster spots
After ONE year of Bedard and the Hawks maybe expect to be a Cup contender? It’s gonna take 3-4 more years of tanking and building a young supporting cast of talent…
I've been a Hawks fan for over 50 years and am sick of hearing about Bedatd. He's all offense. Centers are the first to help on D if there's a turnover in the O zone and the wingers are forechecking. Bedard should be in the AHL, honing his skills and gaining confidence.
He will get going . He’s too talented but the league better not expand more teams because it’s too watered down. And bettman is bad for the game he’s just a greedy little leprechaun who just wants to expand and it’s not good because there’s no rivalry’s any more, and it’s ruining young talent, and Canada made a big mistake not taking Bedard, sophomore years can also can be the toughest, He will do alright.
I think the jury is definitely still out on Bedard!! He was packaged and given that generational talent sticker . He has always been spoon feed his success and your seeing how that hurt his progress . I find he has very low compete and wants to play on the offensive side only . I see him being not a bust but a good NHL player still . Def not a generational level .
