I think Bertuzzi would be better if the Hawks had the puck more. His style of play requires you to have possession of the puck long enough for him to set up in front.
I love being a Chicago sports fan
Richardson is better as an Assistant Coach. Firing Joel Quenneville was questionable!
The record is worse than last season when Hall tore his ACL in the first week and Perry was cut. Guys like Teravainen and Bertuzzi specifically were big additions compared to last year.
There is nothing going on offensively from the most skilled players. Bedard leads the team in points, but is still struggling.
So it's Richardson's fault that they spent good money on Bertuzzi to skate around like a beer league player?
I want Bruins to get Bedard!
There’s no fight in this dog. Bedard will be out the door as soon as he can if they don’t fix it. If they lose him, they are cooked.
Conor Bedard, the Modern Alexandre Daigle
I didn’t realize that Chicago had a lot of the 2022 Canadian junior team in their pipeline.
This should have been a firing of the GM-President for making a mess of this roster and doing a horrible job supporting their "generational player". They had to move Bedard to right wing, because the team doesn't have right shooting right wings for reasons (other than maybe putting Craig Smith on the top line). If you look at the roster they put in place around Pittsburgh for Crosby as a rookie, it took a few seasons, but there was veteran and skilled support for the young stars. Building around your star player(s) isn't trading anyone with a pulse at the deadline and then reloading again with other team's cast off veterans who are just guys who have played a lot of games but not that good. Bertuzzi and Teravainen were a step in the right direction but a lot more work was needed in the offseason and going forward to just not be a disaster on a nightly basis.
GM: Well, I got these old guys who aren't playing like they were 10 years ago – must be the coach's fault!
YES! way over due, a few days late as they should have done what ST. Louis did is what I'm hearing from friends there. The team has had no fire, every time you see Richardson he was just standing there, zero talking to players. Hope now they fix the power play ( Bedard on the point?! WTH) Reichel on the forth line?!
Now we just need to get rid of Kyle from Chicago and maybe our Blackhawks will start making some better decisions.
This Chicago rebuild is a joke, bad draft picks bad signings bad trades bad management…. It just goes on and on.
Spinning wheels in the muck ….hope new leadership at least gets some spark but probably another great lottery pick in their future.
Dude was a horrible coach. No improvement. He has no emotion. They need to stop hiring first time head coaches.
So what would be the harm to send Bédard down to the minors for a couple weeks ?
Crevier has been in chicago for a while now. Hasn't played for the Hogs for quite a few games now. Currently 4 games with 1 goal for 1 point. Sorenson has been playing with the teams and the past few games shows good progress, so his bringing that to the Hawks should improve the team greatly. past two Rockford games, 6-1 and 7-3 wins. Hopefully the trial and error moves are done and the coach that steps in for Anders doesn't screw it up. Listen to Seney too, he has a big part in it, you can see it on the ice where he is directing the show more than trying to earn points.
You know the saying….things happens in 3s. 2 coaches fired so far. 3rd might be Laviolette 😂
The team literally has NOTHING apart from a (for now) slumping Bedard. A bunch of garbage signings of declining and never-all-that-great players is not on the coach. What compete level and system adherence could anyone expect from the sea of mediocrity on this team?
I put a lot of this mess on the GM. He had guys on that team last year that all of a sudden are in the AHL this season (Korchinski for one). They should have lived or died with the younger players and not brought in stiffs like Brodie, Maroon, and Alias Smith and Jones (who is way overpaid for what he delivers).
First thing Blackhawks need to be sellers at the trade deadline. Veteran leadership hasn't worked. Time to finally bring up some Ice Hogs to the main club. Right now Blackhawks have all this talent in Rockford but they're blocked.
Sucks to see Luke get fired. Many mutual friends, good west end Ottawa guy.
They are killing Bedard. Feel so bad for him.
I was hoping they would hire Todd McClelland so they will have an endless rebuild and always lose first round of playoffs
As much as I like Richardson, this squad has appeared rudderless. That generally is due to bad coaching, and or lack of leadership. Bert's nephew has been greatly underperforming, along with several other key positions.
You can change the coach, he needed to go…but this nonsense will continue as long as Davidson and Faulkner are here. They’re just too inexperienced, too inconsiderate and have shown they prioritize the wrong things when it comes to building a winning organization. Luke AND Kyle were stop gap hires and it should’ve stayed that way. Entrenching Kyle as the long term GM will do nothing but harm the organization moving forward and we’ll all by crying in our cheerios when Bedard doesn’t wanna be here anymore in a couldn’t years
Listen I understand we need to be patient and that 2015 was Chicago's last cup but that was 9 years ago. Also they are 4 years going on 5 into this rebuild and Davidson keeps say we want to so this right. As a Blackhawks fan I'm starting to get impatient and I want to see some winning soon like let's get going boys. Also if this doesn't change things I do think Davidson's days should be numbered. And I'm also born and raised in Sudbury saying this. (Davidson is from Sudbury)
Byproduct of the intentional tanking. Push a terrible roster, they'll develop bad habits that are hard to break.
I was at the game vs Boston (final game for Richardson as head coach). It looked like at the end when Boston went up 4-2 the Hawks just threw in the towel. The Hawks took a late penalty in the final minutes and then decide to just stand in a box watching Boston pass around the perimeter at 5 on 4. To me that’s not acceptable. Fight to the end! I also thought Richardson should have pulled the goalie shorthanded at the end of the game just to say “hey I’m still trying to win this” but chose not to. Is it realistic to expect 2 goals shorthanded in the last minutes of a game? No…But hey compete until the end for the fans! On top of that, when asked about Bedard’s performance after the game (Bedard’s lack of defensive coverage was key in at least 1 or 2 of Boston’s goals) Richardson said other than a turnover on a back hand pass Connor played fine. That’s not holding your young star accountable and giving him realistic feedback. I understand trying to protect him from the media but call it like it is. He had another poor game offensively and defensively with only a couple shots and not a lot of positive impact. I can see why Davidson made the call to move on from Luke after the game to be honest. He seems like a good guy and a good defensive mind but had zero clue how to get Bedard and the offense going. That said, Davidson better hope Nazar, Levshunov, and the recent picks pan out because it’s a cluster right now with the NHL squad. I feel for Bedard struggling right now on this team but he also needs to make better decisions out there. Hopefully a new voice/energy in the locker room can get him going a bit.
Blackhawks had Alpo Suhonen in 2000-01
I thought the Hawks should have drafted a forward in this last draft. Lindstrom or Demidov would have been great fits for Bedard.
Then again this draft is a more offensive draft so maybe it was smart drafting that Levshunov.
Bedard is what ? 19, thats pretty young, the team is just not clicking, change, change, change
Totally didn't expect this to be the first Swede to coach an NHL team.
I think this is due to Celebrini way outperforming Bedard, when Bedard was supposed to be the better goal scorer. Chicago's GM may have thought there wasn't proper development going on.
I think it is a bad idea to base your game around one player.
Kyle Davidson is the one that needs to be FIRED, not coach Richardson. Nobody’s gonna play their best for the Welfare Contracts that Davidson hands out. Even his Golden Child pick is catching on. Blackhawks fans need to give Kyle Davidson a dose of Reality. Firing Coach Richardson and Joe Brand was REPUGNANT. 😡🤬
