Nothing like another game of Leafs vs. Refs. Seriously, the Leafs have gotten so many bad calls against them so far, it’s pathetic.
This was a tight playoff style game. It's a shame that the refs had a direct impact on the result. It happens. Rest up, and get that win in Pittsburgh tomorrow.
This game should’ve gone to OT, horrible officiating and the ref is a complete m***n for that trash assist on the GWG

I hate blaming the refs for a loss, but that game was terrible. Cross-checking on Matthews, Fehérváry defending with no helmet, and a ref redirecting a clear right to Washington for the winning goal. GG Caps, you looked good out there.
That’s a clear and cut penalty on Tavares near the end.
You can’t knock off a players penalty when the player is trying to put it back on.
That was a game of mostly bad luck for the Leafs. Puck bouncing off the ref, hitting the goal post a few times. It happens once in a while.

Despite the flukey winning goal, the Caps were the better team tonight.
They controlled all zones by winning almost all Puck battles.
Playoff kind of hockey, which they executed very well.
If they continue like this, they belong as one of the favorites in the Cup conversation.

Both teams played a close game, it could have gone either way. I’m not blaming the refs for the Leafs loss tonight. We could have done a lot better offensively, felt very dry on opportunities the whole night. GG’s Caps, onto Pittsburgh.

I never complain about the refs… but that was brutal! No call for Matthews getting cross-checked. No call for Holmberg's stick being pulled out of his hands. The ref helped the Caps score a goal. Unbelievable. Also… Matthews and Nylander played terrible. Rough game for Myers too.
Unfortunately the refs are in play, just like stantions, bad boards and discarded broken sticks.

The refs sucked bad in this game missing many calls on the Caps. They were even in on the GWG. But not for the refs we have a tie game end of regulation. Had they called penalties for knocking off the Leafs players helmut or for the Caps player playing without a helmut we may have had a Leaf win. Caps are a great team and deserved to win this game as much as the Leafs who are also a great team and played well enough to win. But the refs tainted the outcome of the game. Perhaps the Caps would have won without their help. Or perhaps not.
Caps played well and got a couple lucky bounces, officiating was trash (as usual), but the Leafs were just flat all game making sloppy passes and putting nothing together in the O zone.

That was a bullcrap game! Bullcrap third. The reason the Caps won was because the Caps got away with a crosscheck on Matthews and OEL getting penalized twice. That's not a winner. That's not a winner
