I’ve been watching hockey for a long time, and I’ve never seen anything quite like this. Hartford Wolf Pack defenseman Ben Harpur, who has previously played for the New York Rangers, Nashville Predators, and Ottawa Senators, was suspended for four games by the American Hockey League (AHL) for charging Rochester Americans goalie Felix Sandstrom.Interestingly, these two players have a history. Last season, Harpur scored on Sandstrom, who was then playing for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms (the Flyers’ AHL affiliate). In that game, Sandstrom tripped Harpur with his stick, causing him to crash into the boards and suffer a season-ending pectoral injury that required surgery. It seems Harpur didn’t forget that incident and decided to settle the score. #hockey

Payback can a B sometimes.
Four games seems about right for a suspension, especially when considering the revenge factor involved. What do you think? Does the suspension fit the situation, or would you have handed out a different punishment?
Guessing the goalie didn't get any punishment for tripping Harpur and causing the season ending injury? Harpur should have done more than a simple charge
He just about stopped before he hit him he was just trying to get his revenge but I don't think he was trying to cause any type of injury.
I would give him two games for running into the goalie like that.
But when I saw what the goalie did to him in the previous game you showed, the goalie could have heard him way worse by just pulling his skate like that with his stick that guy could have went head first into the boards.
They should look that over and suspend that goalie for the season for a play like that.
That being said him hitting the goalie like that was wrong I'm not saying it was right it was a revenge hit because of what happened to him I would have gave him two games.
Best case scenario Sandstrom was completely careless and let himself trip Harpur into the boards. He holds on to his stick instead of letting go, and he's even pulling against Harpur. You can see the stick fly forwards as soon as Harpur is past it. I can't blame him for giving Sandtrom a shove.
4 games also seems like a lot for that hit. There's no charging, there was no contact to the head, it wasnt even particularly hard. I'm guessing the AHL wanted to make an example here
What suspension was Sandstrom assessed for the earlier (equally or more dangerous) cheap shot on Harpur – – – that cost Harpur the rest of the season.
One truth about hockey, like it or not: When the refs and the league don't sanction misconduct, players or teammates will settle the score themselves.
This adds up…. The karma is cleansed
Judging by the comments here and in the orginal video, no one here knows that goalies are allowed to make saves, and that attempt at a save was well within line with what a goalie needs to do, otherwise, why have a goalie? I've had to make that same move in a beer league game, and I have accidently caught up an opposing player with my pads and or stick. There is a reason there was no penalty wasn't assesed then, because it isn't one, making the revenge play, that much more heinous.
Crazy how many people think he save injured him on purpose lol. Its gotta be alot of the suspended guys team on here
It doesn't matter whether Sandstrom was assessed a penalty. Whether this is a penalty or a penalty worthy of some suspension is not predicated on the actions of Sandstrom in some previous game. Period. Each event is to be taken as a separate event. Should Sandstrom have been penalized? Seems so. Should Harpur have been penalized. Yes. End of story as there is no "karma is a b so the offended get a free pass" provision in the rules.
If your going to do something like that dont half ass it
I 4 I
That makes NO sense. If the owner and coach have any scruples – they would find another idi0t!!!
