I think he's clearly got some nagging physical issues that are holding him back, but like you said he's not lacking for effort, and I admire that. I think either we all need to adjust our expectations of him as an offensive sparkplug, and see him more as a two-way player and grinder (which is a shame considering his contract), or they need to sit him for a while as the rest of the team is mostly healthy to see if that alleviates his health issues. Maybe just put him on IR, get him training in the gym to stay strong, but give him time to get to 100% instead of consistently floating around the 70-80% range.
Whatever happens I'm glad to see him always putting in the work, and I hope he can just be happy with his play because I trust that he knows what he's capable of and what he can give the team.

We have this season to trade his ass. Even if he turns it around he is a pylon in the playoffs. That contract will end up as the worst in canuck history and will handcuff management for 7½ more years
It's terrifying to have a superstar that falls off the second they sign a big contract. That is a legit franchise killer.
