Is the Season Salvageable?: Nashville Predators Lose in Spectacular Fashion to Florida Panthers

After a better team effort Wednesday night against the Washington Capitals, the Nashville Predators lost in spectacular fashion to the Florida Panthers Thursday night. On today’s show we recap the game with our “one word” to describe the 6-2 loss. We step back and look at the first fourteen games of the season and debate why the on-ice product struggles to resemble the on-paper potential. Just one month into the season, is it already time to dash postseason hope? We explain why even after a terrible road performance, it may logically still be too soon to give up on this season’s team.

  1. The Preds have to wear it this season regardless of how south this thing goes. Blow it up now + Fire everyone Preds fans need to take a timeout. Y’all have stress management issues.

  2. There’s something oxymoronic watching a team that includes two individuals who have scaled the heights and not only been on a Stanley Cup team but were the MVP! And being coached by a guy who came in and coached team into postseason in Florida..but then in postseason was absolutely lost..still won Jack Adams that year but his inability to adapt to post season you had to wonder the flexibility factor. Got the sense that when things aren’t working this coach deer in the headlights…

Presently seeing similar coaching theme now that Brunette is here in Nashville. Remember the disaster in Buffalo several years ago when the coach was a big hiring mistake…really good players went into the shadows.

Why is this such a disaster? Pretty hard thing to accomplish ..a team of older veterans yes…but these are experienced guys and a player such as Nyquist is a great role player opportunistic in key moments. The younger guys made progressions last season.

This may be the Preds team as is for 2024-2025..but bring on a different coaching situation it will be like flipping a switch. There are so many instances that have been transformed on a dime with a more suitable coaching dynamic. But management is determined to not improve on things in this regard..your locker room will be thematic in chaos…the toxicity factor will seep in nightly.

  3. The chemistry is just not there and yes you can argue for more time, fire the coach, yada yada yada, but you do need to draw a line in the sand and say enough is enough and be ready to rebuild

  4. There still needs to be some player adjustments before axing coach. Schenn and Mccarron (really like Mccarron) both need to take a seat – I’d be fine if we just gave Schenn to another team. Great game against a very good Caps team but last night was rough. Thankfully Stamkos is starting to find the net. We were 5-10 last season so I’m interested to see where we are in 2-3 weeks. Unfortunately people thought great players would come in and we’d be 9-1 right now and this takes time.

  5. Anne: find me at momma on ice
Emma: find me on the hockey news.
Operation board game: find me in the place where all things eff off. Lol.

  6. You know, it's funny, when trotz said "we're in win-now mode", I knew he didn't mean the Stanley Cup, but I didn't realize he meant the draft!🤣🤣🤣 Hey it's better than the nothing that I thought we were going to get.

  7. I’m not mad nor will I become so. A-YOOOOO Tommy see us through this will ya? You’re due.

  8. If nothing changes by game 20 it's time for changes. By that point you have reality over just a trend. Mabye Nashville will keep some of Marchy's salary and you can trade him back to Vegas.

  9. I mean, it is the Florida Panthers. They make a lot of teams feel this way. They just pounded the Stars back to back.
