We’ve see some brutal own goals in the NHL over the years, so I won’t say this is the worst I’ve seen. What I can say, is that I have never seen a hat trick completed like this! Last night as the Tampa Bay Lightning hosted the Washington Capitals, Charlie Lindgren scored as bad of an own goal as you can score in the 3rd period of what was a tied hockey game. What’s crazy, is that Brayden Point was technically the last Lightning player to touch the puck and with 2 goals on the night already, Lindgren scored his hat trick goal for him. If that isn’t crazy enough, had Point not touched the puck, it would have been Andrei Vasilevskiy who would have been credited the goal! Imagine, a goalie goal for the ages is what we were robbed of! As for the game, it was a great finish by the Capitals who rallied behind their goalie and actually wound up scoring shortly after. I cover it all in todays NHL hockey video!

Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends!
That own goal is nuts, but they still were able to win. As a Pens fan, I hate seeing Caps being so good. Its crazy, they are a real cup threat at this moment
Kuch may have the most lethal pass in the game
So Gretzky is now wrong, apparently you don't miss 100% of the shots you don't take.
My reaction to finding out that Vasi could of had the goal:
My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined
Sadly Tampa still lost the game but we deserved it, no way caps don't win when that had that much main character energy
Love the fun you bring here to the beautiful game.
Tampa paid him, or he bet vs himself in Vegas 😮😮😮😮
There is no way that happened by accident
At least it wasn't a playoff series clinching goal. Oilers fans know who i am thinking about, Probably Flames fans too.
Lingrin can laugh at it now because he won.
WOW! That was pretty bad.
FYI, I’m also disappointed that it wasn’t counted as a goal for Vasilevsky.
I will say it, it was the worst goalie goal ever.
Lindgren made a mistake but he completely made up for it afterwards. What character and grit! My kind of player!
Vasilevsky not very good this game.
Named my dog after that little bastard
It’s funny but since they still won it’s kinda whatever
An own goal and a Hattie all at the same time.
What are the odds?
Lindgren "Totally Redeemed Himself!"
No better way for this story to end.
Next 'I had to watch more then once' try and include Artem Guryev fighting to players at once. Game between the Wichita Thunder and Worchester Railers. 9:50 of the first period. It's on the thunder social media.
Love the charlie!! cut!!
If you told me two years ago that caps would beat tampa despite dumping a free point in their own net I’d have called you crazy
Not a Caps fan, but having that kind of compassion for your teammates when they make a major goof will lead them to greatness. Love to see it.
A great goal to be scored for Calgary, and a great way to complete yet another hat trick for Calgary! Go Flames Go! BRING POINT, MAKAR, REMPE, & HALL HOME 🇨🇦
A goalie goalie goal.
That would be insane!
So glad they were able to get it back for him. This locker room is a right knit group and it shows on the ice. It's also a nice little distraction for us Caps fans biting our nails awaiting Ovi's return.
The first Capitals player to go up to Lindgren after the goal was Dubois. All that nonsense about Dubois being a bad teammate is incorrect.
After the Capitals traded for Dubois, his teammate from last season, Matt Roy, signed a 6 year deal with the Capitals. Matt wouldn't have done that if he didn't want to be on a team with Dubois for the next 6 seasons. Dubois has done well for Washington this season, better than the stats show. And his leadership showed last night in how he was the first guy to go up to Charlie after that goal and let him know that it's okay.
These types of plays should be own goals. It's ludicrous that a player gets awarded a goal.
It's a horrible own goal. But I still haven't seen anything as bad as Bergevin's own goal.
Bergevin's own goal was in the playoffs, and helped the President's Trophy winning St Louis Blues get knocked out in the first round.
2:52 that was one frame away from being offside.
So uh… 2:02 did Point get his hat trick puck back? lol
Caps management pulled some impressive moves with the cap space freed up with Backstrom and Oshi on LTIR and Kuzy leaving. Chychrun is a stud, Dubois is consistently driving play, Roy, Duhaime, Radysh are all playing key roles and Connor McMichaels and Protas are leveling up in their development. Great to see a gritty character win last night.
Mad respect to Springfield Thunderbirds legend Chuckie Sideburns, glad he got the win
caps are a wagon
I can't imagine what that goalie was saying or thinking after that own goal. 😋
What a fun story that unfolded in this game, and an amazing win! Truth is definitely stranger than fiction sometimes…
That locker room clip was great. I didn't realize what a beaut/beast Chychrun was.
The teams response in the locker room just speaks volumes to their character. I might not be a Caps fan, but I got mad respect for that team now.
I would feel good for the Capitals if it weren’t for Tom Wilson. That guy is a rat
Crazy game. Lindgren big balls!
I threw my hat when this goal was scored. I mean i chucked it as hard as i could!
Im a caps fan lmfao. Glad they dug in and won
I nearly did a spit take at the bar when that happened. I could hardly believe it.
Washington won the game.
