They almost blew yet another lead and the team they played had a difficult game in Boston the night before. More luck, rest and a tired team than the changes.
Wouldn't get too excited. Vancouver on the second game in two nights without Miller and still missing Demko and Pens almost gave up the four goal lead.
First period was the best period of penguins hockey that I can remember in many years. Play like that 60 minutes for 82 games and this is a better team. They sit back WAY too much. Sully needs to stop making them sit back and “hold” a lead.
For everyone who is on the fire Sullivan wagon (I personally am not)…the poor roster construction that he has had to work with….Gryz on D being one of the worst off season moves they made….played the fewest minutes amongst the D…Shea and St. Ivan played more, and that is with all the power play time that Graz could have taken minutes from….So Sullivan just didn't play him….we aren't on in the inside….maybe he worked on trying to help him succeed (much like all the reclamation projects Dubas has brought in which is pretty much every player is being other teams healthy scratches)….He doesn't have a lot to work with…and he is trying to make it work…and trying to help players improve….my two cents
Its frustrating watching this team. The first forty minutes they were flying, they were hitting, they were making plays……….they were exciting to watch! Someone who stood out to me was Lizzotte, he was a catalyst, almost Brandon Tanev like. I've been hard on Rust and he went out and had a game. Jarry didn't let in the typical bad goal and stayed in the blue ice……and Vancover has a lot of talent. But I can't lie, even at 5-1 I wasn't confident, and in the third period the team I watched for two periods was noticeably behind the play. Not sure I took a breath after the 5-3 goal till the buzzer went off. A win is a win, and I believe besides Washington, a win over Vancover is their only win over a playoff team, so its huge. I am not sure how to feel, I saw things they got away with tonight, sloppy plays on PP, and almost giving up a huge lead, so to say they are fixed is a stretch……but I did see improvements. And I hate to be negative Nelly, but I have heard, Sullivan did this, did that and this is the result……so he's getting a ton of credit for this win. But, it took 23 games, not counting the last two seasons, but he gets all the credit for the victories but has had people give him the excuses for the loses. I still believe a new voice will help with confidence, motivation, and accountability, but I'll stop, this topic is a broken record and he ain't going anywhere. To finish off, I saw baby steps and it was a huge win, keep it going Penguin!!!!!.
Nah. Looked like a team that had three days rest against a team that played yesterday. Like MANY games this year, Pens were competitive for the first half of the game only to falter late. This old team is incapable of skating hard for a full game.
EK65 was brilliant, absolutely brilliant. Has there ever been a better outlet passer on the back line in team history? He should be the undisputed QB of the offense. Whatta shame that Sullivan and staff haven't put him in a position to succeed.
What game did you watch?? I get putting a positive spin on things, but had it not been for terrible defense they win this game 5-1, not 5-4. Defense was not leaps and bounds better at all. They got lucky and escaped blowing a 5 goal lead.
Happy to win, but I definitely was nervous at the end. My hope is that they play like games are 0 to 0 when they have leads. Anytime they get on their heels things seem to get out of hand.

A win is a win…which is great. However, they almost blew a 4 goal lead! Still,I hope it's going in the right direction.
Pooping in my throat tonight

I’m just thankful they won.

St ivany and shea shouldn’t be an nhl pairing. And gryz shouldn’t be in either
So if the Pens play Jarry in goal against a team with a goalie similar to Jarry in goal, they just, win?
They were noticeably crisper in this game.
Jarry is still pitiful…. Put Jesse on the second line

Trade Jarry for a hockey stick !
Same old penguins . They are afraid to hit the outher team . Age ia catching up to them
aberration or real sign, we’ll take it!
It was more Vancouver was tired than Pens making changes/playing better that's why the Pens looked crisp.

Penguis are soft and fragile.

The goaltender for the Canucks was worse than our goalie. That's it.
They still nearly blew a 4 goal lead.
Sullivan scratched Puljujarvi, our best forward easily, and then got rewarded.
Hopefully they get trounced Friday.
Not worth watching if Sullivan is the coach.
