The Washington Capitals have surged to first place in the NHL’s Metropolitan Division following a thrilling 6-5 victory over the New Jersey Devils, extending their winning streak to four games and showcasing an impressive power play performance. Key players included Connor McMichael and Pierre-Luc Dubois, the latter scoring the game-winner and solidifying his reputation as a top two-way center. Meanwhile, Andrew Cristall of the Kelowna Rockets delivered an outstanding performance in a 9-1 victory over the Regina Pats, recording five points with three goals and two assists, bringing his impressive season total to 47 points in just 18 games and positioning him as one of the league’s top scorers. Together, these performances highlight the rising talent and competitive spirit within both the Capitals and the WHL.

Ive been saying since the offseason caps are going to be real contenders. And dont underestimate what vrana brings back. Roy, PLD, chich, conner, two great 1A 2A golies and ovi will pick up in a matter of weeks where he left off. And like in 2018 we're getting the puck luck in our favor when it comes to pucks in front of the net finding ways in for us but more important staying out for them. Well see how the break treats us come tourney time . Hope the break doesnt slow momentum which is a real thing.
The Ovechkin thing, I'd like to say, wasn't panic… more like genuine sorrow felt for a guy that was having a renaissance in his career at age 39, and everybody enjoyed watching it and being a part of that. Those two losses after he initially got hurt, was more of the team feeling totally bummed about the circumstances IMO.
I had no doubts in my mind that this team was only a few really good defensive pieces away from being a great team once again, and the additions of Roy and Chychrun have been wonderful adds by the GM.
I bet Ovechkin is already chomping at the bit to get back out there after he's seen this four game win streak against some of the best teams in the East (Florida, Tampa and Jersey)… and I am hoping that the Capitals stay healthy the rest of the season.
Let's go CAPS!!!
I love this team and the players. Proving all their haters wrong.
It’s quite amazing what the caps Gm’s were able to do this off-season. They deserve so much praise. 1/3 of lineup changed is quite a feat in this cap era! Pre cap days this was pretty easily doable. Remember the 2001/02 red wings. They pretty much went out and bought the cup that summer of 2001. Brett Hull, Hasek, Robitaille and others. They had to play very well though. We’re the team to beat all season, yet we’re great from start to finish. Capitals have only lost two in a row once and that was the first two without Ovechkin. No loss3s in four games sinc3 then. I am rooting hard for ovie to be back soon so he doesn’t have to go through a big rehab. I want him to play 70 games.
I am definitely pulling for PLD though there was one game recently where he was a minus 3 with no points. Okay, plus minus isn't always the whole story and neither is the score sheet. There was a recent game where he set a screen on one of the Caps goals. No goal or assist but a big part of that goal. Little things do add up. We're winning and I'm glad of this, but I hope they do bring the goals against down about from the last 3 or 4 games. As to the Sharks, they are currently one of the bottom feeders of the league, but from another channel, I heard they are more interesting to watch this year.
LETS GO CAPS!!
Leonard, Cristal and don’t look now but Ilya Protas is climbing the OHL leaderboard. At 6’4” he might become a really good middle 6 forward.
