Sabres suffer franchise shattering loss
The Sabres find a way to blow a 4-0 lead to the Colorado Avalanche in one of the worst losses in franchise history. The Sabres looked fragile, panicky, and like a team that needs a shakeup. Sneaky Joe talks Sabres future, whether that be Kevyn Adams’ job status, Rasmus Dahlin’s happiness, or the roster being locked in for years.

I told my buddy last night that there’s not a team I trust less with a lead like this than the Sabres. Soft like butter. We need veteran players outside the organization but like you said who? Rasmussen Andersen? How? It’s so frustrating to watch. Same thing happened in Pittsburgh 3-1 lead evaporated. Lucky to get a point. Firing Adams doesn’t fix this today that’s a next year thing and fine do it. But if we don’t hold the line and get 4-5 games above .500 soon it’s over.
Fire GM Adams
Underfunded penny pinching organization no president of Hockey operations no scouting dept inexperienced GM incompetent Ownership group
No one on the team is worthy to be captain and KA has to go. Only problem is Terry will bring in more half ass people. Terry is my biggest gripe and nothing is going to change as long as him and Kim have their noses in everything. Organization is ass
Nothing says soft like canceling practice and avoiding the media the day after that absolute choke job
This game could have pushed the sabres confidence in an upcoming hard series of games. To not even get a point out of this game is screaming fire sale. UPL was the only reason they didnt tie it up after the second period…and this teams identity as known around the league for 5+ years, is soft and inconsistent. I also agree that they aren't as good as they are paid. I first denied that to be the issue but they are playing so bad for what some of these players are being paid. They have a group of 3-5mil players. Aside from Tuch, Tage and UPL. I feel the rest are fast becoming Jeff Skinners. The funny thing is, most of us don't like the leafs, but they would never let a game like this happen.
We were just given tickets for tomorrow. Please tell me the popcorn is going to be amazing!
I think the biggest problem with the Sabres is the Bills owner…. if Terry did not buy the Bills I think he would put more energy (good or bad) into the Sabres as planned in 2011 .. but he then spent 1.4 billion on the Bills managed to find his way to Bean and McDermott/Allen … NFL makes more money… the Bills are worth 3 billion plus more then when he bought … he does not care about the NHL anymore … just another opinion on the pile
BRRRRRUUUUUTAL! Sell the team Terry!
GO GET JT MILLER …..TUCH interview was awesome 👌
Worst franchise in Pro Sports. The owners a joke.
Trade OWEN POWER for someone who has some grit and wont just let opposing players camp in front of the net. Send a goddamn message! No fight or passion in this team. The SABRES ARE THE NY JETS OF HOCKEY — only more embarrassing.
no accountability from top to bottom! this team is a lifeless team!
Is it me or the sabres players not hockey smart? Some not all. BENSON IS AWESOME! ONLY SABRES that gives a crap
It's not an all time bad loss. It's not a determining factor of anything at this point. For me, an all time bad loss is one that causes irreparable damage to the season. This loss is not that. It's a bad loss for sure, but not all time bad. This loss is one we can laugh about if the Sabres make the playoffs. There is no laughing at an all time bad loss, ever.
In fairness to Tuch his line does produce even though ideally he would be on a second line on a good team.
They need to learn how to shoot top shelf. Way to many shots are right at the goalies crest. The goalies are always staying low.
It's over for this year. That game lastnight said it all. Just a soft fragile heartless team. Adams has to be fired before he makes it even worse. Stick a fork in this season. It's over before the new year yet again. The Sabres are closer to the bottom of the standings then they are a playoff contender!
My guess Terry is looking to move the team. But can't do that until the fan base no longer supports the team
well Tuch should be captain
We should do what the NFL Jets are doing. They’re bringing in an outside firm to look for the next GM and HC because Woody has no idea what he’s doing. Their only trouble is the firm is led by their former GM they fired. They have the right idea just wrong execution. Terry needs to bring in outside help because him and his wife clearly have no idea what they’re doing running this team. Just make sure if you bring in an outside firm, it’s not led by Jason Botterill
Franchise shattering… really. Ok we'll see. (Suck it up folks, and stand by your team)
I don't think we need to rebuild. We have some talent. But it's lacks depth. I think a smart GM (President of Hockey Ops) can quickly get this team good again.
Bryson is a liability. Krebs disappears.Quinn needs to sit. Bring up Ryan Johnson.
I've been saying this for 3 years…Adams doesn't know how to build a team. When we missed the playoffs by a point and he did nothing that summer he should have been fired.
Teams are killing us in our own end in most of our losses. It started with that Clifton turnover…if he keeps the puck along the boards it's out yet he angled it to the left and McKinnon takes it and scores, game changed right there.
Joe, there is only a handful players I don't trade, the rest I take offers on. The D is so weak in their own end that I'd trade anyone of them for the right offer. This all falls on Pegula bc he keeps on hiring GM's with no experience. Adams has learned diddly squat in his time as GM, can him and get a real GM here. Oh well, I've told my friends this for the last 3 years and I'll keep preaching this till Pegula rectifies the situation.
I thought the reason for the Sabres existance was to win the staley cup. Thanks Terry !!
I don't believe Adam's will be fired. What I think will happen is that Kevyn Adams moves into a different position within the organization and a new GM will be hired.
GMKA has done a lot and cares a lot about the Sabres. It's just time for a fresh outlook from a fresh GM
PLAYED GREAT WITHOUT THOMPSON ????? , move on, less is more (diggs effect) !!!
We need Dennis Gilbert back in the lineup and keep our physical presence up. Too many goals allowed by soft defensive play in front of the net.
This is the guy who said we actually had a decent defense last video which I laughed so hard at her defense is terrible. It might not be last in the league like it used to be, but they don’t cover their man. They don’t hit enough and they’re too busy skating around their own zone. Dahlin is not a great defenseman he’s a good puck mover. He’s a good goalscorer but in his own zone, he’s absolutely dreadful and at least one time per game. He’s going to give the other team a breakaway. The dude isn’t as good as everyone thinks he is watch the games. don’t get me started on Owen power.
Quinn for Zegras. At least Zegas may bring some creativity and speed
Cozens and Quinn are awful. Sit them already. They aren't producing, even with Powerplay time, high offensive zone start numbers. And away from the puck they are terrible. This team has a lot of issues, but they would be better than they are so far with replacement level players in there instead of Quinn and Cozens.
This team is missing 3 good top 6 fwds
Bluesky… thats embarrassing place to be. Maybe you dont know what that logo they have is based off…
Tage is a core piece. Dahlin is (but he's not playing as well as he should). Tuch is borderline core. Peterka COULD be core. Power and Bryrum, not yet, but possible. No one else on this team though. Not Cozens. Not Quinn, Not Samuelsson, Not Benson (yet) and I think Benson is getting a BIT over-rated by some.
AVS fan,& yes our goaltending is insanely inconsistent,& is why our record doesn't match our analytics-expected goals,etc-our record should be better. But the actual main reason we are barely above .500 is because for whatever reason we have basically been the most injured team on earth for like 4 of the past 5 seasons. Basically since just before the COVID break. I haven't seen the exact stat but no doubt we have to be top 2 or 3 in missed man games in the 2020s-I know no contender has had worse injury luck than us for whatever reason(s).This season is a perfect example. We were missing 9 of basically our top 11 forwards for a few weeks.Counting Landeskog,& Nichuskin when he was suspended. So just when we get everybody back-except Landeskog,& Colton-within 3 games Manson,& Wood are out for months,Drouin is out for weeks,& 2 other lesser regulars are out for some period of time!
But while I was thrilled last night as we desperately need points-I did feel bad for you guys. Not just a terrible way to blow 2 points but to not even get 1 point was just awful. Obviously I was fine with how it went down…I really only care if we get 2 pts. But since you are in the East-I pull for you guys,& want to see you end this awful playoff drought. I will always have a soft spot for Byrum,& pull for you guys when you aren't playing us. When that game was 4-3,& 4-4…I was hoping it's go to OT,& we would win 3 on 3,or in the shootout. So both teams would at least get something. I'm sure not saying I was upset when we took the lead but if the hockey gods listened to me(& God knows they don't care what I think based off our insane injuries the last 5 yrs or so-lol)-Avs would've won in OT in a perfect world. And I understand you guys thinking "here we go again." But I still think you guys are good enough to sneak in the playoffs this year. As long as the team doesn't start thinking that-last night you could surely see the panic in the moment. But I hope you guys snap out of this,& get back on track. Hopefully starting tomorrow,& help us out at the same time by beating WPG.
So I totally get what you are saying-our goaltending has not been good enough this regular season or last. But after game 1 vs WPG last yr-Giorgiev was good enough in the playoffs. But for the 2nd straight playoffs-Nichuskin-arguably our most versatile,& most irreplaceable player gets suspended.Obviously he's not our best,2nd best or probably 3rd best player but no coincidence our record the last few yrs without Nichuskin is a little bit over .500…but we have the best record in the NHL with him. And this is a huge sample size-the last 4 or 5 yrs.
I noticed during the timeout Lindy called after it turned 4-3 that nearly every child on that bench had the 1000-yard stare. McLeod, Benson, Zucker, Clifton, Tuch and Mal were the only ones I saw with fight still in them. Where the fuck is Dahlin? I was vocal about Dahlin not deserving the C before he even got it. A Swede-led NHL team has only won the Stanley Cup twice in NHL history, Lidstrom and Landeskog. Swedes don't have that North American gritty nasty win -by-any-means-necessary attitude. None of the "top players" on our roster have the internal drive to fight and keep fighting even when the odds are against them. Some people just don't have that dawg in them and Tage, Peterka, Dahlin, Power, Cozens, Quinn, absolutely do not have it. They are just support pieces for actual men who can get the job done. I am 100% open to getting rid of these guys even if it means setting us back, they can't show up for themselves they will never be able to show up for each other.
Can we please just have a center that can help the d? Please for the love of God have a defense clue!
All Kevyn Adams has to do is talk on the phone for a living and keeps getting worked….General manager is not his calling!
