I am a 35 year Capitals fan. No Ovi, sure. He had missed 20 games from injury during his 20 year career until the broken leg. Dude had Wolverine level healing powers. Ovi once said, "Russian Machine Never Breaks."
But The Capitals have depth. Connor McMichael is having a breaking out. Same with Aleksei Protas. Pierre Luc Dubois has centered many of McMichael's goals. Dylan Strome has taken off as first line center. DuBois has been a solid 2nd line Center. 4th line Center Nick Dowd has 7 goals. His career high is 12.
The Sharks? They are FAST. Those kids were flying into the corners, mucking it up, and on any mistake that The Capitals made. The Sharks are fun to watch.
To me Brodie Brazil, along with the legend Randy Hahn are the voices of the San Jose Sharks. Seeing Brodie covering the boys just feels right.
I knew the team would be a lot better this year, I mean.. how could they not, but I was starting to get some scary flashbacks with that 0-7-2 start.
The GK I want to see is Yaroslav Askarov. He was stuck behind Saros and his 8 year contract in Nashville, Askarov has the talent to be a much better GK than Blackwood or Vanacek.

That guy at the draft screaming "YEEEAAAAHHHH!!" literally got me back into hockey. The sharks have always been my favorite team in any sport and these young kids and this young coach make it really exciting to watch. Imagine when these kids are in their physical prime. They might actually win a cup.

I think the caps are the surprise team this year. I know they made the playoffs last year but they barely made it and I doubt anyone had them being a top 5 team in the league by this point

You've been saying it earlier than anyone, this team has shades of those 2011-2013 Warriors teams. Anyone in the bay area who is a moaning complaining sore loser about the rough times the Giants, 49ers, and even Earthquakes are going through, just know that you're missing out if you're NOT following these Sharks. We're witnessing the beginning, and if you watch now, you only see outperforming of expectations and positive signs.
Fair weather fans only ever see disappointment by setting themselves up too high.

As of today, Sharks are THREE points out of a playoff spot! A few more games played, but we’ll also have matchups against the teams ahead of us. Is it likely they make it? Maybe not, but if December is a lot like November, they’ll certainly be in the conversation. Sounds like a surprise team to me. Just have to enjoy this year, it just may be our last one for a while without expectations lol love seeing you Brodie!
As much as I love the sharks winning again, I think another top 4 pick would really secure the future
The underlying analytics are still bottom 5. But I do think it’s been more bottom 10-ish since Macklin returned and they have gotten great goaltending besides the Ottawa game. Still feel we will be bottom 10 by seasons end but I would love to take a swing on Rantanen in offseason and make playoffs next year.

Win or lose, the Sharks have been entertaining this year. And there appears to be genuine growth and a good locker room culture. The new coach is getting results. My hat's off to GM Mike Grier.
