Post-Game Fan Reaction: Oilers vs Golden Knights – 12.03.24

The Edmonton Oilers were shut out 1-0 by the Vegas Golden Knights in a low-scoring affair at T-Mobile Arena after being unable to solve netminder Adin Hill on 28 shots in their scoreless defeat on Tuesday night to their Pacific Division rivals.

Forward Ivan Barbashev scored the lone goal for the Golden Knights 10:47 into the first period before Hill locked down the crease the rest of the way to claim the two points. Barbashev’s goal came at even strength on a night where neither team received a power play.

Stuart Skinner made 15 saves for the Oilers, including a terrific glove stop on Tomas Hertl in the middle frame, but fell to 8-7-1 on the season with the defeat.

The Oilers drop to 13-10-2 on the season and seven points back of the Golden Knights for first place in the Pacific Division as they return home from their three-game road trip to host the Columbus Blue Jackets at Rogers Place on Thursday night.

  1. The energy in the third period was crazy, it felt like 2023 first round game winning. Unfortunately not a very beautiful night in oil country

  2. Can’t stand Vegas. Especially tonight with their suffocating defense and Hill standing on his head.

  3. This was a great game! It felt like a play-off game! Fluke goals happen, and that was one of those goals, a pass that catches skinner on the knee.

Not enjoyed a game of hockey this much outside the play-offs since the 90's!

  4. 3 things:
Refs should be investigated for gambling on this game.
Move nurse to PP. An extra 20 points for him makes his contract look better, and 20 less points for Bouch makes his next contract cheaper.
    Eichel is doo doo.

  5. Complaining about the refs is wild…VGK is 5th in the league in PP%. If calls were made, advantage VGK IMO

  6. Great game but this (getting goalied) happens so often that you’d think they’d learn eventually- the key is to simplify the offensive plays and SHOOT MORE with traffic in front. 28 shots is OK but 38 is better. Get a lucky bounce of our own. Still, hard to complain too much. And if Hill is our starter in the 4Nations we have a good shot.

  7. I think Corey Perry on the top line is their “Hyman” replacement until he comes back – you can’t deny the net presence that Perry brings, didn’t mind him out there for the 6 on 5 tbh!

  8. Its like we are playing nhl 06 with the collapsing defense lol.cuase thats what vegas did, so boring. Great game, the weakest link was jeff skinner almost took the only penalty. Stu played great. Stetcher took a bad puck to yhe head hope hes alright. No pp only helped vegas.

  9. Fourth time being shut out in 25 games , only 3 in 82 last year . Vegas #2 in fewest penalties taken , Oilers #4 . Calling ( or not calling )games like that favors teams like Minnesota , Dallas , Vegas . Refs eliminating special teams heavily influences a game and I wish the league held officials accountable instead of sheltering and protecting them .
