  1. This just makes me think Yzerman isn’t good for the Red Wings. Not as a GM anymore anyways. It’s frightening to think of what he’ll do with upcoming cap space. So many bad UFA contracts already.

  2. He did. Ken Daniels somehow heard about it and told me at one of his fund raisers. That’s why we traded Walman so quickly and for such a hit. Steve thought he had stammer and that’s why he signed Tarasanko to cover this mistake after that deal fell through.

  3. Say what you want about stammer’s stats this season so far, but having Larkin, Stamkos, Kasper down the middle would be amazing. With that said, I’m glad it didn’t work out

  4. yzerman really tried to sign, stamkos to go with kane, tarasenko, petry, holl, chariot, gustafsson, copp and compher lol

this is the genius yzerplan 🤣

  5. Would have come in as our #2 center, but by next year would be #3 behind Kasper. A lot of $ for a #3 center. Need that $ for some of the younger players, not put off the rebuild some more. 🏒

  6. Yzerman likely doesn't have to go through anyone for approval, but it's not impossible given how money focused Chris Illitch is. This might work out better for the Wings as Kasper is getting valuable experience. Our biggest need is a 2nd pair D-man

  7. I don't buy this as presented by Woodward Sports. There is a salary cap, YZERMAN has to manage from within. He doesn't need budget approval, this is not 2002 when the Wings signed Brett Hull.

  8. If Chris Illitch is going to handicap Yzerman I wouldn't blame him if he walked out. Yzerman deserves better then this and so do the fans.

  9. I would have liked seeing Stamkos in Detroit. It might have created the chemistry they’re missing. And why would you not want one of the best scorers mentoring your youth. Mike Ilitch loved his players like his own kids. It’s different now, unfortunately. Just a bother for the ownership.
