Tanev has been a good soldier, but they really pissed away his value. Vancouver is horrible at selling high and buying low. Awful asset management.
I’ll take that deal with Maple Leafs. Montour for Kapanen straight up. They have quite similar salary right now but as mentioned Montour is a RFA so maybe his salary goes up slightly. I wonder if leafs fans feel this is a fair deal?

As for Tanev his best days are behind him and we have more then enough young d-men to fill his spot and that would free up cap space for signing Hughes and Petterson
