Sunday November 24th 2024, the Grand Rapid Griffins and the Iowa Wild (AHL; American Hockey League), played each other for the second time that weekend. During the game William Lagesson, was suspended 3 games for a roughing incident on Adam Raska. During this ‘incident’ William Lagesson put Adam Raska of the Iowa Wild in a rear naked choke. A grappling technique commonly used in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and MMA.
The Grand Rapids Griffins are AHL affiliates of the NHL team the Detroit Red Wings, and the Iowa Wild are AHL affiliates of the Minnesota Wild.
Is this a suspension? William Lagesson was suspended 3 games, but many including myself think it should be a longer suspension. Also did the linesmen and referee do their jobs?
