Elliotte Friedman on Hronek, Hoglander and Quinn Hughes
Hockey Night in Canada Insider Elliotte Friedman joined the guys and updated the latest he is hearing with Filip Hronek, Nils Hoglander and Quinn Hughes.
One of the things I love about this show is that it's the anti-corporate sports channel. Nobody's coming in wearing a suit and tie from Z Zegna after spending the morning at the gym – because actual sports analysis and hosting matter a lot less if you don't look like a model. I don't care about that stuff. I just want to hear good analysis and commentary. That seems to be dead on television for the most part. Kevin Bieksa has managed to navigate that better than anyone. He's still abrasive, honest and entertaining, but he knows where the line is. It's a testament to how good Elliotte is that he hasn't been replaced years ago by someone with a personal trainer. Rogers can't get rid of him because he's too good at his job.
1) Rick Middleton : NHL's all time breakaway legend. Scored on every breakaway, guaranteed. Absolute magician. 2) Nils Hoglander : Trade him. 3) Luke Gazdic : Please get this guy off the panel. Unqualified, awkward, and ultra cringe.
One thing is always a given anyone who worked at or still works at the CBC and HNIC is guaranteed to be an apologist for the media. Elliot knows damn well that there are plenty of eastern media guys who still barely even know where Vancouver is let alone have seen Hughes play a lot. Maybe they see the odd game here or there and a road trip ,Ike the current one is a good showcase for Quinn’s talents and domination but for the most part out of sight is out of mind.
I, too, am impresed with Elliotte's coiffure. I think this is the first time since the dawn of the pandemic that he doesn't look like he just got out from behind a departing Boeing 747. Respect to E.F. for his comments about Bieksa and 2011.
He forgot about about how the NHL helped Boston win in the 2011 series. And the ref by turning a blind eye to very late hits that even broke a back without nothing.

Middleton had the slap shot.
Respect for Elliottes 11’ loss line in the sand

Enough with the Hughes gets no respect back east foolishness Dhali, he won the Norris trophy last season.

Love the Cablevision logo! Blast from the bc past!
Trade Hronek. Too injury prone
respect for Friedman's Governor 🤣
Sorry but I had to speed through the Boston stuff. I have never been a fan or Montreal either.

Anytime I have my headphones on I have to turn them down when Rick talks hahah screaming into the microphone haha
Canucks at 9:30am on Sunday is a crime. Completely delusional scheduling!
2011 refs played a role in that playoff run
If everyone knows how good Hughes is then why is all the talk about the best defenceman all about Cale Makar
Um sorry but Derek Sanderson was by far the coolest NHLer of that era. Hands down. No contest.
non boston interview starts at 5:15
Half the episode was about the bruins nice title
do not ever make fun of the 2011 Canucks. They got screwed out of it by the conflict of interest NHL head office
It was an ugly series. The ‘94 one was the classic one, even though Canucks didn’t win.
Friedman channelling Gary Busey
94 was the best Stanley cup final
Nice try Elliotte
The only reason BB won in 11 was the goalie………………………………………
G H is another Paul Coffey
What about Colin Campbell being in charge of fake suspensions. What a joke
Hoglander to the Pens for Marcus Pettersson. Done.
Elliot has no hair on top
Love these 2!
