The Boston Bruins Look Bad | Bruins Game 11 Recap

The Boston Bruins lose 8-2 to the now 7-2-0 Carolina Hurricanes. The Bruins got outshot 37 to 15 and hit the Hurricanes 32 to 12, but as Andy Brickley said on the broadcast, it looked like they were playing in quicksand. Not one player played better or worse than the other out there.

Swaymna was pulled, and the Bruins had an NHL record set against them in this one.

  1. of all people, sweeney should have realized that you don't need a giant goon to cover in front of your net. all you need is even a smaller Dman like sweeney was to tie up and interfere with a forward in front of the net. the Bs are the only hockey team to ever have an entire D lineup of huge guys that refuse to hit anything except the buffet. what i've been noticing the forwards do lately is three or four guys will chase the same puck. for example, the first canes goal had four Bs behind the net and they still lost the puck battle ! phew ! they do that a lot. no one is looking to position himself in response to a teammate's position. it is 5 guys out there doin' their own thing. in my almost 60 years of watching the nhl, i've seen plenty of bad teams, but i don't think i've ever seen all but a handful of skaters playing so poorly at the same time. some teams had no talent and had worse records, but considering the talent on this team, they are the current all time train wreck i have seen.

  2. I think it’s the team that is not doing well. Defence not there Offence not there….its not the coach, its the team…its simple. You’re right about Cam and Don they have to be accountable. Thanks for your honesty much appreciated ❤

  3. It was hard to watch. I was disappointed in Monty’s response to the goalie interference call. We were already smoked a bench minor for the coach yelling at a marginal at best call would have shown some sign of emotion. If we lose to Philly again. I don’t see how Monty survives. The team looks disorganized, that’s on the coach.

  4. Lack of talent. That's on Sweeney. He is great at finding 3rd and 4th liners. The team is full of them. The players look lost and confused out there because they are. They don't know who their line mates are from one game to the next, sometimes from one shift to the next. That's on Monty.

  5. Wow another Bruins channel! Cool, subscribed! Bruins look terrible, idk if it’s time to bomb the season. We need that first round pick. 😂 GOOOOO B’S!

  6. I agree with everyone saying that firing Monty won’t change anything but something’s gotta give and honestly if I read that he was out, it would atleast give me some sort of change to look forward too. I’ve been considering skipping the last couple of games because it’s just so consistently disappointing

  7. I actually came out of that game feeling pretty hopeful and optimistic for the upcoming season. I am a Canes fan though

  8. Each performance just keeps getting worse than the one before. Don't know what will happen but it needs to happen sooner rather than later

  9. Why haven't they signed Tyler Johnson??? This is what I expected last year after losing Bergy and Krejci, not after the roster was vastly improved (on paper). Crazy

  10. I genuinely put this on the Sweeney and the whole coaching staff. There is no way they are this disorganized constantly. How are all these players, the whole TEAM, this disjointed. I don't buy that the team is really this bad. Last year we saw portions of this type of play but for it to turn out like this is ridiculous lol

  11. It's gotta be an in house locker room thing.
    Monty seems lost.
Frederick and Geekie in a contract year are ghosts.
    Bring in Quenneville

  12. The last time I remember the B’s looking this out of sync was back in the Robbie Ftorek era during the early 2000’s, the only bright spot is looking like a high draft pick after the end of the season.

  13. It’s also worth noting the parabolic rise in comments to every uploaded B’s video, and EVERYONE is speechless!

  14. Any team can have a terrible game or two. The Bruins are consistently terrible this year every game. That is a disipline problem. It seems every player is doing their own thing all game long and it does not reflect a nything having to do with teamwork. If they are going to play like farm team players then maybe send em down to Providence and give some youngster to wear the Jersey.

  15. You don’t get paid that kinda money, produce those stats, and not expect to be fired. No excuses. These guys look tired and need a spark to light them up. I thought holding that 4th line together might be inspiring for the rest of the guys, but not if you break them up. Bad move. Don’t fix things that are not broke.

Anyway, there is too much talent there not to be a contender. They will bounce back.

  16. There must be more to the story, maybe some money should have been spent on keeping some of last years players.

  17. It's real hard for something to stink on ice.
    But the Bruins….
Been a fan for over half a century.
Been here, done this. Please Go Bruins.

  18. My Boston Bruins ARE Winners All The Tlme Been A Fan since 1957,,=Age 4,,Brink Back Ullmark!

  19. I blame Swayman for distracting the team during the start of the season and making way to much money for such a poor start to the season. Can you imagine skating your ass off just for your goalie to let by some soft goals and get paid 3× to 4× as much as you 😂

  20. Let me fix the headline for you: The Boston Bruins ARE Bad.

I fear that it's going to be a long, unpleasant season. The number of unforced errors is unacceptable; as Andy Brickley often points out, so many of the goals the Bruins have given up this year are self-inflicted. Passing to nobody except the other team, bad changes, unable to complete more than 2 passes on a possession, a huge number of penalties — this is really critical as their penalty kill has been abysmal. We all know that Sweeney rolled the dice and mortgaged the future toward the end of 2022-2023. It worked on paper, with a record-setting number of wins and points. They should have cruised through the playoffs with no problems at all, but Florida apparently didn't get the memo. I don't have the numbers in front of me, but I don't think the Bruins have much in the way of draft choices for the next couple of seasons, so even if they came in last and won the lottery, I don't know if they would get that pick anyway.

Somebody might point out that the 2018-2019 Blues were in dead last when the year changed to 2019, and they wound up winning the Stanley Cup. I would in turn rebut: St. Louis had far more talented players and were a better team than this group of Bruins could ever dream of being. The 2024-2025 Bruins have basically no positives.

It's clear that Montgomery isn't reaching his players, and it's equally clear that the Bruins are in rebuilding mode, even if they don't acknowledge or admit it. Montgomery has lost the locker room, the players aren't doing their job, and Neely and Sweeney have messed things up royally. I know there's a great heritage and great pride with the Bruins, but all teams in all sports eventually go through this. I would clean house from top to bottom.
