Nhl hockey 2024 – Among the teams at the top of the nhl standings through the first month and change, we’ve got some usuals and quite a few surprises (minnesota wild hockey is so fun to watch right now). Today we dive into one team who is no stranger to being near the top of the standings and making regular playoff appearances, but they’ve added some freshness that has really helped them be a dominant force in the early-going. Between jackson blake shayne gostisbehere jesperi kotkaniemi pyotr kochetkov and the usuals sebastian aho andre svechnikov and my personal favorite seth jarvis , carolina hurricanes games have been pretty fun so far this year. For all things nhl 2024-25 including recaps reactions and breakdowns of nhl highlights today 2024 , more canes coverage this season, nhl news trades and occasional trade rumors , rankings and longer all 32 teams content, nhl picks today and predictions plus more, please consider susbcribing. as a canes fan at the beginning of the season i thought we would be maybe a second wild card team but looking at what is happening TULSKLY THE LORD AND SAVIOR
As a Canes fan I appreciate the content. We don't get much love. That said, I feel like every year starts and ends the same. We come out hot, everyone thinks we are a contender, and we fizzle out in the post season. I will agree with others. This year feels different. But, I'm sure I told myself that last year too. Regardless, for what was supposed to be a down year, I am elated to see such a talented Carolina team. I think that what the Canes look like post All Star break will be extremely telling. Again, thank you for the content and I hope we can become a more prominent presence on your channel!
Cheers from Carolina!
Yea but they lose -3 OVR in the post season
As a canes fan, i think its almost fun for them to go under so many people's radar. It makes them feel like underdogs at almost every gane, which makes the wins that much more rewarding. It also helps that everyone thought they'd be worse because of the talent they lost. Guess we decided to prove the league wrong
Canes biggest problem to get over hump is Panthers.
Can you make a video about the canucks
I’m just gonna try to have fun! Regular season we’re always a wagon and then the wheels fall off when we bump against tougher dogs in the playoffs. We look amazing but I’m holding my breath until April 🙂
Having to face-off against Bobrovsky and Igor every post-season hasnt helped them. As a fan, I hope this is the year they get over that hump but its way too early to get excited yet. They have definitely surprised the hell out of me so far.
I had been saying it for a few years now that Necas is a good player, but if he ever took that next step in shooting he could become one of the best players in the league.
He had always been a decent goalscorer with even his "down" seasons he was 40 points in a season. He is one of if not the fastest players in the league, has amazing technical skill, and constantly created opportunities. the problem was he'd do these amazing plays where he walks through 3 guys to take a shot on net… and it'd be a limp shot to the goalie's chest.
but now he's taking his time, using his teammates to get the opposing team moving, shooting AROUND the netminder, and he's been rewarded with 21 points in 12 games
Yes, they are really fun to watch! I'm lucky to live 20 minutes from the Lenovo Arena. Please do more videos on the Carolina Hurricanes! Thanks for this video. 🏒🥅🚨
I’m loving every moment of my Hurricanes kicking ass! It’s been a fun watch so far 🤘🏻
Hey haters, we love you! Keep talking about YOUR team while you watch a video dedicated to a different team. If you don't have anything to say about the actual video then why are you here in the first place? Because you are mad that's why! 😂
To quote our former GM – “We like our group” 🙂
i absolutely love ghost. i think obviously him and walker were accepted as skjei and pesce replacements but he doesnt play the same as skjei; he’s smaller and lighter so he’s more mobile and has a blast of a shot, but he can’t use his body as much like skjei can. he absolutely fits perfectly here tho and im glad he came back!!
As a HUGE Caniac I'm extremely excited with our lineup right now. Some notable points: Kochetkov has been REALLY solid which is an absolute MUST for us to succeed. Kotkaniemi… jesus this guy must have whiplash with how quickly he did a U-turn and started zooming in the opposite direction. He went from fans calling for him to be bought out to an absolute MONSTER. Aho seems like he's able to sit back and actually play center right now instead of trying to play all 3 forward positions at the same time. His scoring has slowed down but he's been apart of some really really great plays that led to goals and ofc those OT winners. Blake has been amazing for a rookie that went from probably not getting a spot to really earning a spot in the pre-season. Basically it seems like our depth got so much better and then you have Necas almost starting to step up as a star player of sorts. Now, the thing is can the Canes keep it up? I think they can as long as we can get Freddo healthy and keep playing both he and Kooch in the pipes. 1 guy to look out for who hasn't made it over to the team yet though… Nikishin. I genuinely think Nikishin will come in once his KHL contract is up and immediately cause a stir. He's going to be joining some AMAZING Defensemen and be able to learn the way the NHL plays the game quickly. I think Nikishin will be the ace up our sleeve coming up on the playoffs.
You are spot on. If KK is good, then Svech is great and then they can play Jarvis on the the third line where Staal and Martinook can get him the puck.
Everyone was asking “Where is the scoring going to come from?” after free agency. It’s coming from everywhere!
Easily the best we've looked for a season start in a while. But there are two huge things that need to improve. #1 The Powerplay – while it has gotten better, it still has a lot of room to improve. #2 Goaltending consistency. We love Freddy and how talented he is, but his talent is worth nothing when we can't depend on him. Sure, he's been clutch especially around playoffs, but we are on our 3rd consecutive season of watching him wind up on the long-term injury list which creates a snowball effect of headache. We wind up starting our great backup goalies (Raanta when he was good, then Kochetkov) and play them until they are tired. Then we go for our backup backup who typically costs us a couple games, then go back to playing a still-tired goalie. Then Andersen returns around the late part of the season, but by then its too late. We can only depend on him at that point and when he gets tired, we have a cold backup goalie who normally thrives on consistent icetime.
watching this 9 days later, now it's looking like Koochie is injured too. F
This is probably the 4th or 5th video that has said something along the lines of “a team I want to talk more about but haven’t done so yet is the canes” and we haven’t had any more content yet.
I like Ghost more than Skjei
As the injuries roll in for the canes especially in the goalie core the "naw what is losing at home?" Is awesome. Any team would be expected to have cratered by now but every single game they rally on defence and eventually break through. I dont know what we're doing this seaosn but don't stop and please get healthy.
Dang and I’m seeing this after we stormed back to beat Dallas and the Rags. I enjoy watching this fast pace team. Everyone last year said we were fast. I think honestly we’ve hit a whole new gear. Fast Fast Fast. Let’s keep this pace and sign us a decent back up. Freddy and Martin aren’t it. We should have went for Ashkarov but somebody was too scared to pulled the trigger on 2 Russian goalies on the same team
