Trump proposing ending the income tax and going back to tariffs. Then this would not be an issue. Get Congress on the phone people!
I want the Coyotes back and have them return to the Western/Pacific division. I miss those LAK, SJS, ANA matchups
What's the point of a salary cap, if it is not equal on payday ???
LTIR then ready for the Playoffs… (Patrick Kane loophole) is mind blowing to me.
They will be back someday I'm sure. It won't be for a while though. Probably when the Suns build a new arena.
Bettman and Daly are both still around
Those teams that won those cups had nothing to do with free agent signings winning them the cup. It was through good drafting of their own picks they allowed them to win those cups. This is a dumb argument. Florida before going on this recent run with their mostly drafted team spent their entire existence not winning.
I think the NHL should have made a unified European team for this tournament.
Could they just do US, Canada, Western/Northern Europe, and Eastern Europe for the four nations?
Players are not paid during the playoffs. Their contracts end at the end of the season….

Too much government, don't change a thing.
Do teams really have that much of an advantage in "no-state income tax" states?
It was made famous indirectly by Michael Jordan in the 90s, but 21 states implement the so-called "jock tax". An athlete in AZ plays in CA for a game. Guess what, that player pays CA income tax (1/82 of salary). The tax filings for these athletes is super complicated.
And you can blame CA for this. The state wanted to tax the income of the Bulls players (especially MJ) during the height of the dominance. IL basically retaliated and then a bunch of states quickly followed suit. It's easy to know when these players are in town and can be tracked.
The old adage comes to mind: Wish in one hand…
No the Coyotes should not come back. They tried it for 27 years. It was a complete failure.
Gee NHL players don’t care about balance among the league and want a failing franchise back in the league. Can we please move past the failing Arizona franchise now? Seriously, this is getting goddamn annoying
Great everyone will want to come to Vegas to play baseball
NO.
We need a team in Québec, a team in Houston to create the in-state rivalry, a team in Milwaukee, and another team in the GTA.
I think the NFL could pull off a London team with a week+ off per game. Any other league I think would have to expand a minimum of 4 teams in Europe to pull it off, that way any trip across the pond could be substantial. West Coast teams will probably have extended road trips where they maybe play 2-4 east coast games then go over and play all 4 teams before coming back, and have a few days off before playing again and the first game back is probably a matinee game.
No state income tax hasn’t help the Raiders or Jacksonville
Travel would be a nightmare
Houston should be next
Trumps tax will make it hard for canada to ever get more pro sports teams

Arizona Coyotes needs to return
NHL won’t figure out what to do about the state income tax disparity. NBA or NFL will have to do it.
I know a former professional soccer referee. He was pretty elite having worked the Olympics & World Cup games, and was the referee for San Jose Earthquakes games. He was also a former player, though I’m not sure at what level. Anyway, we had this exact conversation recently & he explained to me that he was taxed for every state he worked/played in, and not just his home state. So if worked in 5 different states, he had to figure out 5 different state taxes. He had an accountant who did it, and he said that it’s the same for hockey players. Just passing on what I was told. 🤷🏼♀️
In no way shape or form would Atlanta eat yet another team.
The players want the Arizona Coyotes back. Let's see what happens first, A). The Nordiques come back to Quebec City (pending that Jeremy Jacobs drops dead). B). Arizona gets another franchise they can ruin. Or C). World Peace. You had your chance Arizona.
The state income tax is less of an issue because of how players and their agents will structure their contracts.
The LTIR in my opinion is less of an issue, too. Stone was legit hurt last year he returned and it was obvious he was less than 100%.
Hopefully Arizona will get another team and hopefully this time they have competent management
Brodie: A more relevant example is the US versus Canada. Taxes, home prices, expenses etc more in Canada. Plus from a team prospective, all players get paid in US $ and Canadian teams get much of their revenue in Canadian $ which is worth < US $. I am sure this plays a role in why Canada has not won a Stanley Cup in decades.
There’s no salary cap in the playoffs cause players aren’t paid for the playoffs. Their salaries are only regular season salaries.
Tampa did it once, the Canucks did it once, Vegas has done it thrice.
ASU hockey’s success is a clue that the NHL can work in Arizona with the right ownership.
I said this when PHNX covered the survey. I am absolutely for Arizona having an NHL team again. But they have to have new owners, a guaranteed arena, and stability for the foreseeable future before there should be any talk of a return. Otherwise it should go to new markets.
In Europe they will deal with the fact soccer plays over the entire hockey season, that's Tuesday/Wednesday games and Saturday/Sunday games. Good luck
Most European countries/EU would not accept a player draft that the NHL and the other major American sports leagues use.
There is a huge untapped hockey market in London. I support a 3rd division team in London and they constantly get above 500 people in the stands. Between Wembley Arena and the O2, you could easily have a team sell out in London with a large local population.

My Suggestion: no offside and icings in 3-on-3-OT, just good oldl pond hockey style
3 on 3 is not real hockey. Strictly exhibition. Go back to 5 on 5 in my opinion
