During the draft he fell to the 6th because of his skating, he has not improved, and he does not believe he has a issue. The cbj had to move him.
Because he can't skate at all. He might make a decent stay at home D man if he can improve just a bit with his speed and agility. His shot is great but not enough to make the CBJ roster.
High risk, high reward trade. I think part of this is trying to get pieces in place for when Kaprizov could potentially become a UFA to stay.
Lets see what cbj does with the picks
I figure nhl for him
Funny thing is Leon Draisaitl had the same concerns… see that didnt age well
any skating issues are heavily overstated. He's fine. The biggest issue with Jiricek is the columbus front office actively broke promises they made with him.Colombus has been an awful team and has bungled most of their prospects. He's going to be really good.
I trust Judd brackets draft evaluation. If he was cool with giving up the pick, then that mean the upcoming draft isn't too great past the top 5.
Before he was drafted, The GM kimo must have been aware? Who was drafted after? Any good D-men?
Sounds like the second coming of Griffin Reinhart but at least the Islanders got Matt Barzal when they traded Reinhart. The question isn't why did Columbus trade Jiricek. It's why they drafted him at that spot in the first place. When you trade a guy two years after picking him 6th overall the problem isn;'t with the player, it's with your scouting department. This has happened too often in the history of this franchise. I'd venture to say they've only hit one real home run in their entire draft history and that's when they picked Rick Nash–and they had to pick first overall to do even that.
Strange , because Evason said he needs to work on his game without the puck. Speed isn't the issue , he just needs to work on defensive decision-making .
He can skate with the puck up the ice no problem. Its the dzone where he has issues. He also doesn't think its a problem which is a red flag. Guess well see how long hes up for. Id leave him in Iowa for the rest of the season.
He Got Traded Because His Agent was Basically Demanding He play For The Jackets and Threatening to demand a trade once he was sent to Cleveland!! Moral of The Story is He's Entitled!!
Buium-Jiricek pair going to be elite
7:30 Freddy?
Edit: I'm dumb
From watching him on the Blue Jackets I knew his skating was bad in general but it was also his lack of awareness in the defensive zone the amount of turnovers especially the high danger ones happened at least a few times a game
Hunt had his opportunities with the Wild. He was not going to be a part of their long term plans. Taking a chance on Jiricek is worth the risk. Upside is there. They have plenty of D corp talent in Iowa and then there is Buium coming from Denver.
When Evason was in Minnesota, he didn't like to play young players if he didn't have to. Doubt it changed in Columbus
21yo with a great pedigree and a history of performing in tournaments. If he needs a little time to develop, that's fine. A 6'4" rhd with a great shot is worth some time and patience.
Judd also thought Olli Jullievi was a better pick than Matthew Tkachuk
Deano couldn't shuffle a deck of cards. I like Billy G have no confidence in his coaching abilities. I hope the new guy turns out to be a complete stud and proves them all wrong.
