The Sabres dont need a whole lot on defence. they need support back there. I would have liked them to get a guy like Dylan Demelo. Mario Ferraro would be a decent depth fit. But they need to focus on that offense. Theres a reason why the sabres have to overpay for guys in trades and cant sign free agents. Nobody wants to go there. Buffalo need some offence. they need someone who can play with TT . that offense is so lackluster its not even funny.
As a Columbus fan, I would guess our most probable trade partner would be Minnesota. Why? Because Minnesota is a Western Conference foe who the Jackets only play twice a year, therefore he would have less chance to come back to haunt them. The second reason is current Jackets coach Dean Evason coached in Minnesota in the years previous to this. He knows the players in their organization well and would be best able to identify which player or players would be the best fit for what he's trying to build in Columbus right now.

I want to ask yourself the same question ? Karlsson is not going nowhere, Buffalo is not his best opinion their quality interest he is also part of that situation. The package do exists involved with Crosby into Toronto would make sense. Actually, if I was Buffalo GM I would reject it.

I agree Sabres don’t need a 20-YO dman right now. If the price is right & CBJ are eying a prospect that is never making this team, then sure. But I’d be saving the 1st Rd assets for another trade & use mid-rd picks in a trade to round out your d-core now – utilizing the analytics team, find a gem in need of a change of scenery

I thinks the sabres need scoring more than Defense… The D-Core is deep and if Samualsson gets back to being the guy we all grew to love, we're very deep. We need to put the puck in the net first and foremost… trading for more D won't help that.

I think if we want to make a trade, and playoffs the team as constructed need to make it to New Year's in a playoff spot. Otherwise we have no shot adding anyone via trade or fa (not like it's this way already).
In an ideal world I would go after a winger: to go on 1st line nothing against JJ but we need to spread scoring throughout the line up. Center: Cozens although playing better is not playing like 2C and we are at a point where we need consistent 2C. Finally I would try to add another top 4 denfesive dman to pair with Power bumping Samuelsson (if he plays) down with Clifton.
I hope the Sabres get Chris Kreider from the Rangers. In exchange give new york – Jack Quinn, Henri Jokiharju, Lukas Rousek and a 2025 1st Round Pick.
