Will We See Continued Improved Play by the San Jose Sharks?

The Sharks have won 5 of their last 7. It’s a much better first quarter of the season than last year.

  1. The Vancouver game the sharks tied it with about a minute left but gave the goal right back with :30 seconds left. That was a brutal game to tie it just to give up the lead again with only 30 seconds left.

  2. Thanks for the video! They were hard to watch for a while but have found a way to generate some excitement. Good for them!

  3. I enjoy having a team that’s watchable again. They are moving in the right direction but still have a long way to go. Go Sharks!

  4. Compared to last season the overall roster looks much better.

I still think doing a full rebuild where you get insurance on all draft picks is the safer and smarter way to go. Grier did the opposite of that with the Lily trade. Steve Dangle said the sharks overpaid. I would have tried to talk Grier out of that one. I hope Lily is a star sharks player now of course.

Getting a 2nd to take Walman is the type of move I would do myself. Cap dump trades are good for bad teams to take advantage of.

Grier has made the sharks at least be watchable and I give him that.

  5. I've been choosing to watch Shark games over Sacramento Kings games when they are playing at the same time for the first time in probably 5 years.

  6. Hey HG,
As a long time Sharks fan through thick and thin it looks to me like we are just beginning to see the guys start to coalesce. I think this is the beginning of this roster finding chemistry and cohesion and I suspect by the all star break we will have a much clearer idea of this teams ceiling this season. We are still fiddling with the lines and pairings but, I was very happy to see Coach Wars reunite the "Lund Line." I think they are a solid group that already has established chemistry and gives us at least one line in the bag that is stable and is likely to improve as the season goes on.

Will Smith is showing flashes here and there but, he is still adjusting to the NHL. Celebrini looks like he belongs. Pretty incredible to watch such a young and talented players. I think our defensive corps is beginning to look like there is something cooking that might work.

I suspect that 60 pts is probably a reasonable expectation for this season. I suspect we a re likely to finish bottom 3 barring major injury trouble and depending on which players we trade by the deadline. Things are definitely looking up these days.

  7. I’m thinking the Sharks win 5 of the 10 remaining November games.

Also, PHI won in the SO, not the Sharks.

Good video & liked the various stats!

  8. I can't forgive you for not putting Cagnoni on that list, He's leading Barracuda's Dmen in points with 11 pts in 11 games (4g,7a) he's my most anticipated Dman in the pipeline, the next Dan Boyle. i'm expecting him to man up on the point for the first power play when he comes up, he had lots of chemistry with Celebrini in the pre-season.

  9. I stopped watching the Sharks consistently when management made Erik Karlsson the player to build the team around. Top 3 teams from one season to dead last the next season…with only 1 core player difference. Pavelski. Was never a big fan of EK or any defensive players who consistently risk the dzone for personal points.

  10. they’re playing more complete games now, they were still not showing up to the third period at the beginning of the season

  11. This team is infinitely more entertaining to watch than last year, they compete hard night in night out and I’ve seen steady improvement over time as the season goes on

  12. hello, as a sharks fan (i live in sj attended 3 games this season) my opinon is: no I dont think this will be sustainable. Main reason is goalies would need nearly 40 saves JUST to keep us in it. our goalies did improve i would take blackwood+vanecek over reimer+kahkonen any day of the week.

  13. The 23rd is The Joe Thornton jersey retirement night, so expect them to have an extra pep in their step.

  14. I love that you give the Sharks the time of day. They have been really fun to watch this year, although the start was rough! Thanks again.

  15. What happens to Granlund in trade deadline? Those rookies surely needs him, but what are your predictions?

  16. When the Sharks were winning , The Tank was constantly packed with 17,562 night in,and night out, it was a hard ticket to get, winning cures everything, Grier has done a good job, considering what he came into, I can see The Tank filling up again in the near future, Grier has the team going in the right direction, still some growing pains ahead, but things are looking up. Great video Shannon.
