The rumors end with Jiricek finally being traded and the Wild had been seen as the frontrunner for awhile now.

  1. Canucks need to learned from Columbus "Vasili Podkolzin" and Olli Juolevi no return

  2. MN better know what they are doing. Trading an entire draft for a player who may have attitude issues is a risky proposition.

  3. Wild got fleeces way too many higher round draft picks for this one – land slide victory to CBJ

  4. Love the trade for the wild, they are sacrificing nothing worth much to them and they acquire a potential top4 solid defenseman.

Columbus on paper is getting good value back from a difficult element which is a win, i just hope that organization will finally enter a proper rebuild stage.

  5. Jiricek has been brutal so far. Has clear skating issues and fell out of favor with multiple coaching staffs. I think CBJ did well here

  6. Can't say that I know much about Jiricek, so as a Wild fan, I think they may have given up too many picks for one player, but I could be wrong. Been wrong before, but I always have a fear of another Hershel Walker trade where the Vikings gave up 11 players for 1. Just a phobia I have

  7. (CBJ fan) My guess is that this really had little to do with Jiricek's numbers or giving up on him based on performance at his age. They probably saw or heard things they didn't like or concerned them that we don't know the full story on. They maybe didn't want another situation where they try to keep someone long term, sign him, then he asks for a trade. It just seemed like the trust wasn't there. They likely wanted to move him now while the value was still there. As a fan it does hurt to lose that pick after a bad year. then again, the team is trending much better and the blue line can be built in other ways. The cap space is there.

  8. Time will tell. Minnesota gave up a lot to get Jiricek. If he is a missing piece and the Wild wins the cup then it was worth it.

  9. This kid has been running his mouth that he's awesome right out of the gate when he looked like a child amongst men, I wish him well , another pld avoided

  10. Jiricek had been tearing it up in the AHL to the point that the AHL team was saying he should go up to the NHL. He's only 20, huge potential to be a great D for CBJ in the next 2-4 years. What the hell is CBJ doing? Are they in some la-la land of ''win now'' by healthy scratching him? This season is the perfect time to let players like him get games in and hone their skills in the NHL. Tell me they still can't develop their draft picks without telling me they can't. 1st round a bit rich from Minnesota? Maybe, but the way they are playing right now says this was a good move to do early into the season before interest picks up closer to the trade deadline. Hope Jiricek explodes onto the scene in Minnesota. CBJ can go and use those picks to then inevitably fumble more players down the line.

  11. Good luck to Hunt. Log jam in Minnesota at D and I can understand him wanting to go somewhere else. I don't know enough about Jiricek to further evaluate.

  12. From what I read the 1st round pick is only top 5 protected, the 3rd round pick in 2026 was originally Colorado's and the 4th rounder in 2026 was Toronto's. Win for both teams since the Jackets can use the picks as trade bait to buy, package them to move up, or just draft guys that can help. Minnesota benefits by taking a chance on a young RHD.

  13. Tough year for Dmen in that draft year. Nemec went 2nd overall and is currently getting pushed around in the AHL too

  14. Holy crap, the first 4 picks in one year for ONE player basically. As we've seen already, just by being a top-10 draft pick doesn't necessarily mean they'll pan out to be a great player, just look at Erik Gudbranson and Olli Juolevi…

  15. While I do think both teams benefited from this, Columbus' lack of foresight in developing Jiricek on the main roster is baffling. Hunt is a skating defenseman and Waddell likes that. But Jiricek has Victor Hedman level upside.

I am a Wild fan, so it'll be awesome to see him flourish in Minnesota

  16. The problem with Jiricek is he didn’t want to develop. He doesn’t want to be in the ahl and I wouldn’t be surprised if he forced this by requesting a trade when he was sent down last week. Maybe he’ll be more receptive in Minnesota, he’s got the potential if he works on his skating and defense

  17. Wild know how to develop young talent these days. It took Rossi years to finally make an impact in the NHL and he’s doing great now. Not every player is Brock Faber who can go from the NCAA straight into the NHL playoffs.

  18. David wasn't ready for the big league. but he insists he is. with his play he doesn't look ready. you can't take better players out of the line up just to develop players in the big league

  19. Oh god finally he got away from CBJ.. I was bummed when they drafted him.. Minnesota looking good so far❤

  20. Seems very risky for the Wild to give up that many picks, including a first round. If Jiricek doesn't improve, it will almost be as bad as that trade Tampa did the other year.

  21. The guy can’t skate backwards and couldn’t crack the Columbus rotation. It’s was an over pay for a tall prospect at least 2 years away from playing at the top level.

  22. I don't watch the Bluejackets much but have no idea if they are tanking or trying to compete. They constantly are using their first rounders as teenagers yet they also made the big Johnny Gaudreau signing and signed Babcock. Thankfully these young players didnt have to be coached by him but that organization seems to be a mess.

  23. Jiricek is a slow skater whom we found out was badly overrated and refused to listen when aspects of his game that were lacking were pointed out to him. He became uncoachable. If it had been just one administration in Columbus that had issues with him, you could give him the benefit of the doubt, but this was two adminstrations in Columbus that could not get through to Jiricek. Unless Columbus cashes in on the draft picks, this trade could be much ado about nothing.
