The ESPN broadcasters said at least 4 times that this was Kivi’s first career multi-goal game. Um… he scored a hat-trick in Game 7 against the Avs… how did ESPN not fact check themselves 🙄

Amazing what happens when you get above league average goaltending. Truly remarkable
7:47 I’m also okay with that and I’ll cite the cup winning season as my reason. One thing that always sticks out to me about that season and when I thought they were truly contenders was in the Dec/Jan timeframe. The feeling I got was that they started playing playoff style hockey where they didn’t need to score a ton of goals every night and played a much more lockdown style defense. This also made Kuemper better as he wasn’t facing tons of high danger shots and had a good site line on shots most of the time. It resulted in a lot of games decided by 1 or 2 goals and most of those were W’s. Last night reminded me a bit of that style of hockey and it allowed for Annunen to easily read plays and be in perfect position for incoming Kraken shots. It makes sense for the Avs to play this way as they don’t need to be full throttle offense all the time and can pick their spots with the talent they have. I mean hell, if this team is only giving up 2-3 goals per game, they’re going to win most of those and especially when they get guys back where the depth scoring should ramp up.
