The San Diego Gulls fell 3-2 in overtime to the Coachella Valley Firebirds despite a strong start with two first-period goals from Sasha Pastujov. The Firebirds rallied with goals from Eduard Šalé in the second and Jani Nyman on a power play in the third to force overtime, where Gustav Olofsson scored the game-winner. Gulls goalie Calle Clang made 37 saves, but the team couldn’t capitalize on four power-play opportunities, including a crucial chance in the third, as Coachella Valley outshot San Diego 40-20 to seal the victory.
