There are times they allow the coach to coach the team
Every year after the tread dead line the owners have the team play like crap. Then when find out they are not going to make the playoffs they play much better
As an upstate NY Sabres fan… this hurts. AGAIN. I was soooo high on this team coming into the season. No consistency at all. Luckily we have the Bill's starting out 8-2, their best since 93'.
It's not really their fault when the talent pool was destroyed by non-stop expansion drafts. They're overpaid children with no talent. Just a bunch of conditioned athletes with no real reason to be in the NHL compared to previous seasons. People who pay for this substandard product and support the corporatism of the NHL deserve to watch garbage. The NHL is geared for sustainability. The GMs want the rules to keep their players healthy and numerous so they can have as many teams as possible while providing the least entertainment for the most money. The teams who secured talent in the last 10 years will dominate the remaining minor league teams. The NHL has mostly become the minors.
They will, everyone is panicking after 1 damn game. They are 5th in the division and 2 points behind 3rd. Every team has a bad night. They beat St. Louis philly and LA that’s 10-8-1 then you have ducks and sharks 12-8-1 5/6 games are winnable but we will probably go 4-1-1 so 11-9-2 not that bad considering where they were 2 seasons ago with a losing record after November and even December
Everyone calm down, don't be emotional. They just won 3 in a row. They're still adjusting to a new system and had THREE players leave the game yesterday with injuries. Consistency will come, they already look way better than they have in the past. LETS GO BUFFALO
Jimmy, I’ve been a fan since I was a kid (sorta) I jumped back on board two years ago when it looked like the nightmare was ending. Tonight we stand in an ok position overall, but Tage is rumored to be hurt bad. I haven’t even followed the team for this long and it hurts so bad

Any team would play well under Ruff's system. Problem is, it's not sustainable game in, and game out. Come playoff time? Yes, his system will work. As the Sabre's are right in the mix now, one must be patient and enjoy the ride…

Terry's wife ran Pat LaFontaine off and we have never recovered….period.
The playrrs buffalo brought in are playing better then some of the ones who have been heret..I would trade Power for a playmaking 2nd line forward with speed.
I hate to say, Bringing Lindy back is not going to help at all.

Rasmus Dahlin has not looked good. He’s actually look terrible as a captain. He takes dumb penalties all the time he’s allowed multiple breakaways this year by giving the puck away especially in key moments and his defensive play is average..
Power doesn’t know how to play defense at all. He doesn’t take the body even though he’s huge. He doesn’t get aggressive his positioning his average he loses the puck a lot. He doesn’t seem to know what to do with the puck in his own zone. The guy is a mess. Our blue line is terrible. It’s young, but it’s not on defense, which is bad considering their defenseman we have no real defenseman besides Clifton, so it’s wonders we can’t protect the net. We’re too soft on defense and we don’t have enough defenseman that can play defense. It’s real simple.
Since you were so early with the doom and gloom, do you care to revisit this take of yours? Or is it suddenly too early to tell since they've started winning?

To be honest, we're looking really good. The sabres are playing really solid right now. Tage has been on fire. Management is making some good decisions. They didnt rush tage back into the lineup until he was 100%. If we dont make it today, we have a pretty decent chance next year
