I'm glad you have finally jumped on the disappointment train. Your optimism at the start of the season to now seeing the clarity that this team is trash. Love it.
Credit to the caps . Tough team right now
I was at the game. That power play was lethargic! Also, why don't we use time outs to let the boys recoup, and to get a pep talk? Could have used a time out at that point. Also, I noted we tend to be scared to skate the puck out of the zone once we get it from a capitals offensive player in our zone, we always try to pass it out against the boards even when starting to skate forward, and the capitals players would block the puck from leaving. Once the puck was obtained, I was screaming to the islanders player to skate it out, but it felt like a mandate for him to try to push the puck along the board. Invariably, a capitals player would keep it in. There were to times in this game when it looked like the capitals were on the power play. Our guys set up in very cushioned umbrella (at even strength!) and allowed the caps to rotate the puck forever, instead of going after the caps player and trying to take the puck; indeed, I am talking about 5 on 5, not a caps powerplay! So weird, and so obvious.
What about fashing passing on the 2 on 1 right onto the capitals defenders stick?
The way roy wants us to play won't work until we're healthy, its not all on roy but the fact our pp and pk are so bad is part on him. I also have seen roy play hutton and George when the game is on the line while the other team is pushing

( little league juniors ) coach roy lost the locker room when he insulted their talent. Roy treated horvat duclair and barzal as the whole team.
Now horvat is iced out of plays by the team. When horvat enters the zone they g into a change
