Revisiting the lopsided Jets & Kings mega deal

Did we underestimate how good of a deal Kevin Cheveldayoff pulled off when he traded Pierre-Luc Dubois to the Kings for forwards Gabriel Vilardi, Alex Iafallo, and Rasmus Kupari back in 2023? Domino’s That’s Hockey revisits the mega deal.

  1. chevy should be facing RICO charges for the white-collar criminal job he did over the LA kings, getting rid of PLD.

amazing trade for the jets. all the guys they got back are still contributing meaningfully with the team.

  2. Sick trade, shows Chevy knows what he's doing… Honestly he hardly loses trades unless it's for a crappy rental…. Hoping he grabs a depth center like Jake Evans for the pk and a defenseman like Pettersson… Don't know how he'd make the cap work though and also don't wanna trade any roster players besides Stanley

  3. One of the best Fleeces in the history of the NHL. Winnipeg/Chevy won this trade like no team/GM has ever won a trade. The LAK players have made the Jets much better for the long term. OH ya… think about the 2nd round pick – Alfons Freij (D) – that's not even considered by most people.

  4. PLD isn't even a King any more. He plays for the Capitals. Grand larceny. Chevy is a genius !

  5. Okay guys, here is a very interesting stat, the Jets have 11 first round picks on the active roster! Thoughts?
    Kyle Connor

    Nikolaj Ehlers

    Rasmus Kupari

    Vladislav Namestnikov

    Nino Niederreiter

    Cole Perfetti

    Mark Scheifele

    Gabriel Vilardi

    Ville Heinola

    Josh Morrissey

    Logan Stanley

  6. As a Kings fan, yeah, that trade sucked. One of my favorite players was Kupari. But the Kings had a decision to make, Gabe was out injured a lot. So, for them, it came down to, do we risk a great player in Gabe and not knowing whether or not if he’s going to stay healthy or not or go with someone that has the size and tools to be a game changer and have 3 top center lines. Unfortunately, what the Kings couldn’t see was, the total lack of disinterest that came with other player. If he worked out then people would look at the trade differently. But that’s hindsight. GKG

  7. This is obviously the easiest one to talk about but the copp trade could go down as even more of a steal. Traded copp who was a rental that wasn’t resigning anyways, and in return got barron, and 3 picks that turned into lambert, salomonson, and milic. WILD stuff.
