I’ve NEVER seen a hat trick like this

In a game against the Tampa Bay Lightning the Washington Capitals scored an insane own goal, which ended up counting as a hat trick. We’ll talk all that and more on today’s NHL hockey video!

  1. Even if this was my favorite player? I would NEVER EVER throw my hat for this hat trick. Empty goals are borderline but this one? Nonsense but hilarious! Hopefully the goalie kept the puck for his first NHL Goal.

  2. I lol'd real hard, but I'm glad it wasn't with 10 seconds left or during OT, congrats to the Caps for not getting crushed from the horrible cringe Lindgren must have been feeling about it already.

  3. The Caps locker room after the game was hilarious. Lindgren was name the player of the game and Chychrun handed him the Caps' player of the game trophy for "the first tuck of his NHL career". All in good humor, obviously.

  4. Is it the worst own goal I've ever seen? Not even close, that would be Chris Phillips. Is it the funniest? You better believe it.

  5. Especially funny because he just looks so confident and surehanded about backhanding straight in. Its not like he flubbed it or shanked it.

  6. Caps fan and I still love Chuckie. I wouldn’t have even cared if that own goal lost us the game, honestly. He broke his back carrying the team at times last year. He can tuck a greasy one in and take the night off once or twice, if needed.

  7. I still think Marc Bergevin's own goal(Blues) in 2000 by literally throwing the puck into his own net was worse.
And speaking of St. Louis, Jaroslav Halak's mid-air bat into his own net is a good (dis)honirable mention!

  8. Good on the team to make it up for their guy and win the game. As a goalie, it was always nice to have a team that would really step up for you when you made a blunder.

  9. Steve Smith ended the Oilers three in a row in the mid 80's against the Flames.
The worst thing about it was the Flames shutout the Oilers for the next 15 minutes.
    Worst Own Goal April, 1986.
