This was just embarrassing…

The Anaheim Ducks fell short against the Vancouver Canucks, losing 5-1 in a rough game. Kiefer Sherwood scored on a screen that caught Dostal off guard, and after his goal, some chirping ensued when Trevor Zegras hit him with a “too small” taunt—a moment the broadcast nearly missed. Despite early excitement from a Zellweger power play goal, the Ducks struggled with defensive breakdowns, lack of creativity, and poor transitions. A few memorable moments—Terry narrowly avoiding a serious injury, and a scuffle involving Ross Johnston—brought some grit, but overall, it was a tough game to watch. This was just embarrassing… Thanks for tuning in—don’t forget to like, subscribe, and go Ducks! #nhl #anaheimducks #vancouvercanucks #hockey #trevorzegras

  1. i’m a canucks fan who lives really close to anaheim, so i was lucky enough to make this game. you shouldn’t feel bad that the loss was so bad. sherwood has been phenomenal, the entire canucks squad played their best game of the season last night. it’s not as bad as you think, but you certainly need a new coaching staff

  2. Love your enthusiasm for this franchise. As a Stars fan, I always look forward to matching up with the Ducks. They're a very entertaining franchise with a lot of hidden or even muddled potential. If they can clean up in front net, Dostal seems like he can carry em far. I def agree that coaching might be one of the changes they need to get there.

  3. Collapsing on the PK is no good. They need 1 or 2 up high and aggressive. They need to stop with the damn penalties (looking at you McT) and D needs to stay in position and cover their man especially in the slot.

  4. It's pretty obvious Cronin is doing more harm than good. I don't know is the last thing you want to hear from your coach. His system sucks and we play like stiffs.

  5. My Canucks went duck hunting that night! We could have gone out there with the old Nintendo gun controllers instead of hockey sticks and probably still would have won.
    😜✌🏻💙💚🤍👍🏻😎

  6. I feel for Dostal. Dude has been a BEAST in net for Ducks. Hopefully they can get it together two ways and with his tending, you might be on the right track.

  7. Fire the dam coach and salvage this season. Turn the offense loose. Let Zegres be his old self. We should be playing a fast up beat style like Vegas did in their first year. Accept the fact that we are not going to be a good defensive team and go for the offense. We have too much talent to only be scoring 1 goal a game. We have good goal tending so lets go for it. Once the goals start going in then go back and work on tightening up the defense.

  8. The most concerning is the lack of development of our "deep prospect pool"

Sure we have a lot of young guys playing and they developed a bit through the years bu it seems like their development just stalls after 2 years!

Sure that can happen to 'A' player…but with the ducks it's a concerning trend.
    Z improved for 2 years..then declined
    McT improved…but has regressed
    Carlson looked amazing…but has stalled

With the amount of high pîcks we've had, you would also think the Gulls should be a decent squad…but they're at the bottom as well with some concerning trends like Nathan Gaucher really not performing well

If we want to save these kid's development, we need a complete overhaul

(also, we should have rested Dostal for a game by now)

  9. Rick tocchet just has a better system to utilize Sherwood I think, really liking him playing for us, feel bad for you guys we went through the same thing for a few years as Canucks :/

Old duck jerseys were my favourite jerseys

  10. I will always be a fan till the day I’m no longer living just like all the other sports teams i watch. In a very team orientated sport like hockey your team needs identity. After players like Getzlaf and perry left I haven’t seen any sort of identity in years

  11. The boys seem to have lost something recently. Maybe the room has been lost. Friday will be a test. Hopefully Sunday they can get something going. Or get the coachs fired.

  12. From what I’ve seen over the years, winning teams (esp in the playoffs)…
-have a smothering forecheck. The Ducks don’t have anything resembling a forecheck.
-know when and how to get to the perimeter in their own zone to get the puck out of the zone and start an even or odd man rush up the ice. The Ducks are all collapsing between the circles, maybe to prevent rebounds and/or not have their man get in front of them, but then never beating the opposing team to the boards to get the puck.
-have a variety of types of lines and know how to get match ups against opposition lines (skilled puck control scoring line, grinding line think early Getzlaf/Perry, checking line that can shut down best line of other team,…). Ducks keep trying to find chemistry to make homogeneous lines that MAY all be able to score except their leftover fourth line which usually is a punishing line to wear other teams down
-line match against other teams and are experts at getting the matchups on the ice in their favor (even if it that means a line is on the ice for only a few seconds).
-have and put out two faceoff gods on the ice during most key faceoffs

Given what they have now, some thoughts to ignore or not…
-Zegras fits in the way Andy McDonald fit in. They shouldn’t get rid of him, they should learn how to get his line out when it’s in his favor (probably with Cutter and maybe Terry or Vatrano. Cutter needs more development, but he can be their next Selanne)
-Gudas is getting too much flack when he is actually one of the best players in the NHL at holding the red line (wasted because the other players aren’t trained to forecheck). Zellweger can hold the red line also and even better, just using a different skill set.
-Leason, Lundestrom, Fabri may be able to turn into a strong checking line to go up against other teams top scoring lines, but they don’t seem to have the ability to score when they take the puck away (hope that changes, they have some promise)
-Carlsson and McTavish with a little more size added can be taught how to grind it out and cycle the puck in the corners like early years’ Getzlaf and Perry and wear opponents down as the game goes on while also being able to tire an opposing line out during some shifts until they get the puck out in front and score.

All this would take time, but no matter what, the Ducks need to learn how to forecheck and get to the boards properly in their own zone.

Sorry for the long wasted space I took up here. It’s too painful to not vent here given the wasted talent …

  13. You can’t disrespect Sherwood he is a hard worker and makes the game difficult for others with chirps and hits. Zzzzegras is overrated he has the talent and skill but cannot apply it. I would take anybody other than him of the young core. Anaheim need structure and leadership they need vets who have the heart to win. Perry and getzelf had pronger, neidermyer and Selene to mentor them. Anaheim needs this. Same did the canucks they brought in guys like the sedins and gonchar as staff before that as a canucks fan I would say we were ass.

  14. I always seek out fans of the opposing team who have yt channels, gives me great perspective of the team, its fans and the game as a whole. Keep up the great work👍

  15. I think calling this embarrassing is a bit over dramatic. You're team lost because our team has a lot more depth,
and we are a team coming off a good playoff run. 5-1 isn't Ideal but It isn't shocking.
