  1. bottom line is despite the roster not fitting his coaching style, they simply were not competing for him. Their effort has been embarrassing and that is as much on them as it is on Monty. No more excuses. Show up to work and play hard.

  2. Why wouldn’t they give
Zacha – Poitras – Pasta a shot? It can’t hurt.

  3. As a Maine guy, I will always have respect and gratitude for Monte for captaining the Black Bears to a national championship and the most dominant season in NCAA history. I also believe that Krecji doesn't come back to the Bruins without the firing of Cassidy and likewise I believe Monte is responsible for the career seasons produced by the likes of Frederick, Zacha, Coyle, DeBrusk, etc., which were integral to the success of the team over the past 2 seasons.

However, I believe, like so many of you, that his fingerprints are all over the failures of this team in the playoffs and in this season (this season being a disgusting smear of prints from everyone from the front office, coaching staff, and players that would rival even my phone screen).

I wouldn't suggest that he is a bad coach but what I'm struggling to understand is why he wouldn't change his scheme to fit the team he has? A good coach recognizes the talents of his roster and creates a scheme that most optimally engages that talent, but it seems like he spent these 20 games just trying to jam square pegs into round holes and mismanaging the young talent.

Oh well, so long Jim, we hardly knew ye.

  4. You know, the more I think about this, the more I think this was exactly what Monty wanted. I think he had zero confidence in the decisions MGMT made in this off-season, and he just said fuck it.

  5. Montgomery was handed a Rolls Royce and is being fired driving a Fiat. He is not a good coach. A good coach adapts to his squad, it's no excuse his 'style' doesn't fit.

  6. The disconnect is internal to the front office. Sweeney wants a modern (fast play) team and Neely wants one built in his image. Today's Bs look like they're channeling any Bruins team from 1983 to 1996. That old style doesn't work in 2024. Sweeney has been manhandled by his boss during roster build and didn't have the spine to quit.

  7. The players are the problem. There is no excuse for the horrid play individually. Coyle is on pace for a 20 point season. This is not Monty's fault nor is it Sweeney's fault.

  8. Monty will get another job with his eyes closed and be successful. Clearly the patsy and someone had to take the whack too bad. As far as the team reality sets in after 2 years now’s that dusts settles mediocre at best wish new coach best GM is weak always has been . Hope I am wrong .

  9. I'm starting to think McAvoy's issue is he's having to change too much of his game due to not having a good duo. I may be way off base on this, but he's having to slow his game to cover for the mistakes of whoever he is paired with. Not defending his poor start as much as I think it is magnifying the holes in his game.

  10. Dude, what the hell is going on with that chair behind you? Is it melting? Did someone die in that chair?

  11. I think the next few weeks are going to give us a couple very important indicators in the Monty v Sweeney debate: Does special teams improve (or at least are there coaching changes to ST), and does Poitras' role change. If the answer to either or both of those is "no", then Monty truly never had a prayer of succeeding.

  12. Apparently our government did not agree with you “NAZI’s are bad”- they brought them here via operation Paperclip and gave the Hitlers top scientist the heys to the NASA kingdom. Werner Von Braun- Hitlers right hand man. Love the show brother! Go B’s!

  13. Montgomery wasn’t your guys’ problem. It’s Sweeney who can’t build a good enough roster. Montgomery had that roster over performing and got fired

  14. I do not like it. I follow my gut a lot and I just don't like it. Coaches ALWAYS take the bullet. Undeserved, in this case…. My opinion, of course.

  15. The "Culture" is taking fire and now its all about surviving until they can find some cover and start drawing up a retaliation plan. They need to bare down. The key players are not playing up to par, and really haven't been all year. We definitely need some line consistency. Give these guys time to build chemistry. Little too much swapping.

  16. Joe Sacco, ffs. Stop gap only. This is on the players plain and simple, you also have to factor in the lack of high end talent coming through, Sweeney is an enigma, good drafts for 3rd and 4th liners, zero high end talent. The change from last season to this is shocking, that's the players and Sweeney.

  17. The line ups changes were far too many, give it 3 games, not change it game to game. That's on Monty. But also the last two excellent seasons are on Monty as well. Overall Monty has been great, but also, SPECIAL TEAMS so SPECIAL they should get good parking.

  18. The top 2 centres being injured didn't mater in the playoffs in 2023 as we were 3-1 up, he then bowed to player pressure and played Bergeron when he shouldn't.

  19. These Boston Bruins are Not a team, not yet anyway. At some level; it's still just a job to some people. Funny how Monty got fired the day after the first non-sellout game in a decade. Wonder what the box office futures are looking like? If im monty, im fine with this. Coaches have stats that they take pride in as well. He's talented and capable, this roster (can't call them a team, teams work together) is neither. Sweeney better find a fleet footed right handed shot on the double quick. A change in conditioning coach and perhaps nutritionist would do wonders. If only they had a couple hall of famers who are well known obsessives in each realm (#33 & #37). Maybe hire a hypnotist or Psychedelic assisted therapist as consultants to enhance the groups ability to play a more team centered game.

This roster comes out slow and fades early in the third. It's nutrition, conditioning and confidence.

  20. There is one name associated with inconsistency, lack of effort and selfishness. He is the only player on this team left from the team that won the cup and underperformed in cup runs and for that matter big games. And with that track record he will have his number retired because of his skill set and stats he has compiled here. A captain who turns on a coach runs to the team brass when he is underperforming himself is not a captain. For years he should have been benched for his previously mentioned antics and under performance but he was allowed to continue and play with no penalty. For this reason his influence on the players he captains will continue to be damaging. Sacco needs to remove him from his roll and gain control of the room. Something he will never be able to do because Donnie calls the shots on every move a coach can make here. Sacco just another puppet.

  21. Agree on the blame pie. AS far as coaching I think sacco was a bad choice; isn't he in charge of the league worst PP and PK? also part of coaching staff that set playoff records for too many men penalties. He's gone at years end I assume. Who do you see them looking at long term as a coach? And if sweeney goes who replaces him? Jamo is awesome, glad you had fun with your fren.

  22. One thing that bothered me a little extra, especially this season, is that he never stood up for the team on the bench on a bad call. Like I know we get annoyed with people like Cooper, and Maurice, and Brind'Amour going crazy on a ref, but sometimes you need it, and he never did

  23. Like you said I don't see sacco making much of a difference. I do see Sweeney being gone after this year regardless of what happens. As for Monty it does suck to see him go, he is a good person and coach. The coach is the one who makes the lines for the games. You work with what you got and keep it together, sending potiras down was a mistake. The players can't give up, nothing is perfect your getting paid millions. Do your job.
