im in love with my pet turtel š¤¤
Lou Lamoriello is a major problem
Ahh the good ol team the ruined Taveras
Idk what happened man.
they fired trotz a little too soon. They could've waited at least another year or two to pull the plug if they really had to. Im not an isles fan but yah their downfall has been interesting to say the least
one word-LOUZER. This team can't improve and is handcuffed by no prospects no cap room. SELL ,SELL, SELL. And 30 keeps isles from being a lottery team. Lots of great forwards available next two drafts. Now would be the time to do it except the stubborn fossil thinks this roster is a contender which means bye bye first at tdl.
The problem was firing trotz and keeping Lou for way too long. Just three years ago, they were one shorthanded goal with too many men on the ice to beating the Lightning and heading to the Stanley Cup. From that time, we kept our defensive core, which was successful under Trotzās style, but got rid of Trotz. While we gained some offense with Horvat and Duclair, we also lost some key pieces since 2020. We traded Devon Toews who was our best offensive defensemen and lost Eberle in the expansion draft, as Lou protected Josh Bailey instead. If we kept these key players, instead of locking up Mayfield, we would be much more successful. In those great playoff runs, Dobson was not the player he is today. While we still are competitive every year to to our grindiness and hardcore fans, it can only take us so far. If we want to truly rebuild, keep our YOUNG talent, protect Sorokin, and go out and get a superstar like u said. It all starts with getting rid of the man who put us in this position, Lou
Sorry Jimmy for the long comment, love your videos, LGI
I actually thought before getting injured, pelech and pulock were bright spots in how they played defensively. Romanov is a super underrated piece that isn't talked about enough, and losing him sucked. The issue is a lack of depth. I think the right move this year is to retool around barzal, bo, and dobson, while they are in their prime. Luck is certainly a factor, but nelson and palmieri have to be moved this year while their value is still high. Both players could net at least a 1st round and maybe more. Nelson has a better track record but Palmieri has just been fantastic this year. Tsyplakov has been fantastic and could be in the calder conversations with his offensive iq. Loosing barzal sucks because he is easily the biggest play driver on this team, and duclair in his brief stint looked fantastic in terms of underlying analytics. The only brightspot in this teams future right now seems to be Cole Eiserman (who looks fantastic at BU), however I am not sure if he will start in the NHL or ahl next year. This is the worst year possible to be mediocre with such a weak draft class outside of the top 7 guys. If they don't have a dop 7 pick and miss the playoffs its worst case scenario. They either have to be insanely bad this year or have a miraculous comeback and get into the playoffs. Regardless of the outcome they need to sell their pending ufa's. This team has really good pieces in their primes, but they don't have another true superstar to support Barzal. I am high on the core, however they have to move off of a lot of the supporting cast and replenish it with youth. Holmstrom has had flashes of promise however seems to be more and more of a middle six guy, and as much as I love Wahlstrom, I think the best thing for his development would be a no pressure situation. I am leaning towards tanking the season for the long island native, James Hagens, letting wahlstrom, holmstrom, and dobson just have fun and come back swinging with cole eiserman and their 2025 first round pick next year.
Will Dobson available for sell?š
Isles have so many good players like Horv, Brock, Anders, Palm. Missing Barz should not hurt them that bad.
Someone they recently introduced is Isaiah George who I feel is a great new addition. Heās 20 years old and his only real downside is his inexperience leading to some errors. But what would be good to see is basically a bunch of Isaiah George like people on the team who sure maybe theyāre too inexperienced to win this season, but they can definitely be beaten into a star line up given some time in the NHL. Iād rather see that and watch them grow into star players than was the islanders have now which just looks to be a slowly deteriorating line up, canāt rely on sorokin forever despite how much I love chanting āWe Love SOROKINā at the games
there's 15 other teams in the conference. everyone cant stay where they are forever.
your window of opporunity doesn't stay open forever, others will come to close it.
Honestly the problem is blowing leads in the third period. #1 thing. If we keep those leads we easily make the playoffs last season instead of squeaking in. And we've already had several this season.
You Have to think about how hard a retool/rebuild would be these contracts on a lot of. These players are borderline untradable. No one is taking Pelech who has been injured four out of the last five years or Mayfield Whoās locked up till heās 37 years old even though right now in his prime he is barely a third pair defenseman or Engval whose effort on the ice was so bad he started the season in Bridgeport who we have locked up on a seven year $3 million contract. I think the better route is just too try and improve where you can prolong mediocrity and barely scratching the playoffs for as long as you can and then tear it all down except for key pieces like Barzal Horvat, Duclair, Dobson, Romanov and Sorokin. (I wouldnāt mind trading Dobson. He has been embarrassing defensively)
