Jacob Trouba delivered this thunderous check to Justin Barron. He stayed low. He didn’t drive upward or outward. There was no shoulder shrug or chicken wing. It’s one of the most un-Trouba check he’s ever made.

Clean hit… Whatever happened to keeping ur head up..????😮😮😮😮
you're so wrong! That's a hit to the head, unless Barron's 6'5".
He's got a history and this is now part of it!
Trouba is going in shoulder to chest …its Barron that lowers his head as he looks down and attempts to play the puck.
I’ll make the call. Canadians fan it’s an elbow and a suspension. New York fan its a clean hit keep your head up. why even have these discussions.
point of contact ? his face …. hit to head suspension as a leafs fan
"At an even plain ?" I beg to differ, he lifts himself up slightly, other wise he wouldn't make contact with Barron's head who towers over him. He doesn't position himself to target the chest at all but propels his shoulders to head height. As clean-ish as it is, it is a very dangerous hit, a commotion inducing kind of one. Players Safety first. Call has to be made.
You have to call the high stick.
Did anybody check Trouba for blood?
As a habs fan its a clean hit trouba is on the ice keep your head up don t lower your body before impact .
Not sure about that. The first point of contact is his head.
Sometimes the check by Trouba ends up being clean while other times it's not clean. When you look at how many times he's injured other players it becomes crystal clear that this a player who is intentionally trying to injure every time he steps on the ice. That's his whole game, period. The only conclusion that a knowledgable fan or fellow player can come to is that Trouba has no respect for other players or the game of hockey. Jacob Trouba has no honour. Years ago the other players in the league had a way of dealing with worthless pieces of sh!t like Trouba, but in Betman's NHL he's able to make a killing.
Keep your head up.
Reason 1: you’d know trouba is lining you up
Reason 2: you wouldn’t turn last second into his shoulder
barron literally lowers his head a couple MILISECONDS before troubadour makes contact. you don’t like to see it but shit happens it’s hockey. shit happens and you learn from it. bet barron will be keeping his head up a lot more. i’m not even the biggest trouba fan but this was clean.
Trouba is going to get one of his teammates killed, too bad
Just because you CAN make a devastating hit doesn't mean you always HAVE to. That could just as well be a severe concussion and the start of career ending problems for Barron. Is it worth it?
Welcome to the NHL keep your head up
This is what happens when the NHL becomes all speed and skill and no tenacity, grit or violent edge. These kids aren't taught to take and receive hits and maintain awareness when carrying the puck or handling it. They skate around admiring their passes and stick-handling and then get creamed. It's not the checking/hitting players responsibility to let you look up first. If you are playing the puck most often you are eligible to be checked. Act accordingly. Kronwall used to do this all the time defensively and everyone saw it coming and would literally just dump the puck to avoid it. Now players just look down or keep skating as if they have impunity and then predictably so get lit up.
Habs fan here. Totally clean hit. Barron does lower his head right before the contact. Trouba already committed. This is hockey. Sometimes players unfortunately get hurt.
Dude the head moved before the torso ever did.
May have tried to be clean but that was chin first all day
Direct hit to the head. Baron never changed the position of his head. Double standards when it comes to the Canadiens by this bush league we call the NHL. Officials are corrupt. No one wants to see the Canadiens win another Cup especially that rat Betman. Odds are we won't see Trouba playing November 30th if Arber Xhekaj is in the lineup.
Jeff Molson stand up and be heard, complain to that rat Bettman about the horrible officiating, just like the Leafs did a few years ago. Wake tfu!
Three games minimum since it wasn’t a hockey play. Trouba could have changed the point of contact as he has his eye on Barron and not the puck. He wanted to take him out. Barron on the other hand should know and keep his shoulder towards Troubas face. Or do a spinerama and try to hit Troubas face into the boards. Tit for tat with Trouba. He’s the one who’s gonna get the same medicine he dishes out. They always do eventually. He’ll have to take a few bumps on his button with a bigger player. It’s the code of hockey.
Strange times we live in when your eyes lie and someone needs to tell you the truth.
Clean hit
The only issue I have with this hit is that Trouba takes himself out of the play at the same time. I bet he could have pretty much the same result and stayed on his feet and join the rush in the other direction. Big hits where both plays go "flying" and end up on the ice may make the highlight reel, but I don't get why you would take yourself out of the play at the same time by leaning so hard into the hit like that. It might be a clean hit, but to me that best hits are the ones where your opponent is on the ice, and your team has recovered the puck and are working an odd man rush back in the other direction.
