The best case scenario for Luchanko was to get the 9 games in the NHL, let Torts and Shaw see what he can do, and then when he returns to the OHL they give him a nice checklist of things to improve/work on. He won't be gone for long. I'm willing to bet he'll make the team next season.
The problem with Jett Luchanko began by assigning him the number 17, Rod Brind'amour's old number.
Brind'amour is going to be in the Hockey Hall of Fame as a player, it's too much pressure to all but tell a kid who wasn't even born when Brind'amour played with the Flyers that his play reminds them of Brind'amour.
When Luchanko makes the team next year, give him number 18 (Mike Richards' old number) because THAT'S the type of player he will be!
