A lot of fans have digested certain biases that affect their evaluations. Somehow it's cooler to be a running QB or a super-fast coverage linebacker than a pocket passer like Goff or a big middle LB like Campbell. But "traditional" doesn't mean bad.
That mesh play had B. Joseph at safety. Branch more likely drives on that sit more effectively.
Jack's a stud.
The whole idea of signing Reader was to eat up blocks and free up Hutch, Alim, Anzo, and Jack.
I know you already knew this Coach, just putting it out there for the uninformed.
He’s settling into the position now and playing with more confidence, with his worth ethic he’ll be fine.
Nice renaming of PFF to NFC. No F*cking Clue. Absolutely love it!
ALL LB's have such a tough time in the pass game…pass coverage is not their natural skill set,and they are covering guys faster/quicker than them nearly 100% of the time
Jack Campbell is a dude. I was so pumped when we drafted him. I thought it was high for a MLB but he's a DUDE.
Jack is the man, perfect fit for Detroit. Keep the vids coming, I appreciate these breakdowns to give a 2nd look at things i might have missed
2:17 AGREED
Campbell is making a lot of improvements from year 1 to 2. Dude is perfect at the Middle Linebacker for Detroit. Thanks for your breakdown it’s always spot on. I agree F**k PFF 😂
Need to do a video on Malcom Rodriguez !!!
Jack anchoring the middle allows the faster Anzalone to fly around and do his thing by lining up in different positions.
enjoyed this, thanks
Absolutely love you critique at the end, you look at the defense as a whole and that's the only way to get the accurate measure, in my opinion
I think PFF was one of the 1st metric services open to the public (first I heard of). So maybe this is the "alpha" version of film breakdown. It was better than nothing. I consider channels like ALL22 the next level of performace evaluation. I watch football differently now. Watching the O and D lines is now my favorite thing to do. Evaluation education is just so much better now.
Thanks for the video. 👍🏻❤️🦁🦁
This video is tough to watch. I'm supposed to be watching Campbell but Hutch just keeps jumping off the screen. I'm not sure how we can have the same defense without him.
I feel ya on the Grading Systems saying a number of players are doing poorly, when the eye test shows they are doing way better than what their "grades" say. Josh Paschal is one that keeps coming to mind. I thought he's doing pretty darn good crushing the can to contain QBs and RBs when in on the DLine.🤷
This is why you should never just look at PFF grades and assume that’s how good or bad a player is playing. They are way off sometimes on players and hold the wrong player accountable for mistakes. They definitely should have a play by play grade, great idea actually. Our lbs have been playing awesome this season and Cambell just keeps improving. He still is and will improve as a pass defender with his athletism and how big and long he is at 6’5 250lbs.
Ugh it pains me seeing Hutch, Barnes and Davenport and Peko all healthy and out there for the Rams game.
The more and more film I watch the more and more useless Alim McNeil becomes
Branch would’ve read those mesh plays against the Seahawks for sure. I’m so glad we got him back.
Amazing watching Campbell stop his momentum, instantly shed Zack Martin and then stand up the RB on outside zone like that. I can't describe how tough that is and how easy he made it look.
I agree 100% of your comments and annotations coach!! Maybe one day, you'll replace them with a team of think-alike employees
