The problem with the wings isn't that they are trying to win it is they are doing it too soon. The defense and goalie situation let the team down constantly last season and to be cap married to so many makes it become a Leafs kind of situation.
The rest of the team has to be good enough or the star players do not matter. I have not followed all wings moves so maybe the defense and goalies will be better next season.
Hopefully the wings and leafs prove me wrong.
Hopefully the injuries to Mukhamadullin and Askarov aren't bad enough to keep them out of the lineup in the early season. Shakir should be fighting for a spot on the NHL roster this year if he's healthy.
With Couture, I'm starting to think he's played his last professional hockey game (or very close to it). So sad to see it happen. I doubt the Sharks even name a captain to replace him until his contract expires.
OK Torts, I just bought a partial season ticket plan so you better make it worth my while.
It's such a relief getting Seider and Raymond on the books for a long haul. Now I see why Yzerman didn't get rid of Petry and Holl, we couldn't afford to get anyone better. Hopefully Petry and Holl can improve and be mid next season. Also explains why Fabbri was let go instead of being re-signed.
To NJ Labanc is good enough to be in the NHL on a min contract. He can outperform that contract and he knows Timo and Dillion.
Both signings by the Red Wings, Seider and Raymond I believe are excellent value for the team, both should age very well. So maybe the Yzer-plan is on track

I really like the idea of Malenstyn and Aube-Kubel being on the same line. Hopefully, Auby cracks the lineup. I even have a line name suggestion. The Hitting Line. Triple the team hitting all by themselves. Get ready, Buffalo. The only team you have to lose to is the Caps.

There are people who can put 25lbs of muscle on in one summer. Not everyone can but some people yes. Anything higher than that and they're most likely using steroids.

Happy happy happy, but can't believe they got him for 7, expected a 2 or 3 year contact, think in a couple of seasons baring injury this is gonna be a steal of a deal, he has yet to miss a game for the Wings and can score goals, should be a top 3 defenseman in a couple of years again barring injury

I hear that "this player gained 15 to 20 lbs of muscle this offseason" a lot from teams and players and always roll my eyes at it. Either they are admitting they are on enough steroids to kill a baby elephant, or they know nothing about how the human body work and it that case you probably want a new trainer. Its like 5 lbs of muscle and 10 lbs of fat, which for contact sports like Football and hockey is still a good thing. The extra bulk especially for the smaller players is always a good thing.
