NHL doesn't need to expand as 32 teams is too many already
The season is long enough don't need to add more games as the playoffs already go into June
Every team goes through injuries
Zegras for Reinbacher? … nope!
They get 50% so it doesn't change anything
Reinbacher wont be anything in the NHL
I don't know…. Reinbacher and a first that would realistically be a pick 10 to 15 for Zegras might not be that bad. If you asked me at the beginning of the summer trading Zegras for Reinbacher straight up I would have said that was fair… Now, with another injury to him and a major one at that I don't know if the added first is enough. Zegras has literal point per game upside when he hits his stride. If Reinbacher keeps getting injured and turns out to be a bust that mid-ish first round pick more than likely won't even come close to a player that can score like Zegras.

Re: Young Draft Picks: it makes NO SENSE to rush these kids (Iginla etc)…yes…the league is getting younger and faster and the Hoffmans and Kessels etc are on their way to minor roles or retirement BUT these kids need time to mature both physically & MENTALLY!!! There are few draft picks truly ready to step right into NHL level competition…not everyone is a McDavid.
Re: Preseason Injuries: I hate to say I told you so but as I noted a few times previously…GMs and coaches are on pins & needles hoping that their stars don't get injured. Look at Habs…losing Laine for 3 months is horrendous. The NHL needs to: 1. shorten preseason to 4 games 2. Teams should only play those prospects fighting for one the few spots needing to be filled and hold out the top players to protect them from preseason injury.
Re: Xhekaj: I am a die hard Habs fan BUT he cost Habs 2 games. He cost them a "W" vs Sens. They scored 3 goals on that 5 minute major. Terrible penalty and he deserved it. Marty sent him to Laval last season when he started playing stupid hockey and taking penalties….time to ship his arse to Laval. He is a liability when he plays like he has.
Re: Zegras to Habs: I'm not convinced he's an answer for the Habs BUT if Ducks would take Reinbacher and Habs lower 1st roundpick maybe it's worth doing. I would NOT trade Hutson or Mailleux under any circumstances. Maybe Struble.

That's BS re: wanting to set the "G" market….that's no reason to demand an exorbitant salary simply because "I want to reset the goalie market!!!" That is frickin ludicrous!!!! If I'm Bs management I'm cutting this chump loose!!!!!
Bs made MAJOR mistake trading Ullmark away before getting Swayman locked in at a reasonable cost. Once Ullmark was gone….Bs lost all leverage to get Swayman signed to a reasonable contract. HUGE ERROR by Bs management!!!
No easy answers to make changes to pre season. Teams want to see their prospects and AHL players on NHL ice to see where they're at, and 3-4 games not really enough time to do that. Can't sit out all the upper tier NHL players, because fans would balk at the ticket prices, and besides, teams also need to see how the prospects stack up vs. the better players. Teams could reduce number of higher level players required to dress, but they better drastically lower ticket prices.

How long have the Leafs needed a goaltender like Swayman for Neely and the Bruin fans to make him the bad guy is priceless. How dare he not take what the Bruins offer the insolence. The Leafs would give him 10M in a heartbeat if they had room.
Swayman to the Ducks for John Gibson and Trevor Zegras. The Ducks also have Lukas Dostal a goalie prospect.
Zegras to the Habs for Reinbacher sounds good to me and Cole Caufield.
Swayman to the Leafs for Marner. Marner can be the new Adam Oates.

If Bruins can't sign Swayman or he demands a trade and the season starts with Korpisalo in net (yeah the guy Ottawa regrets signing) Neely will have to answer for this.
Reinbacher for Zegras had me LOLing. Reinbacher AND A FIRST for Zegras had me in stitches. Reporting on Laraque's takes is for amusement purposes only.
The swayman sitch just keeps getting ugly.. first.. the agent, if he'd been doing his job, Neely couldn't have commented.. because he'd have been in neely's office talking. If sway won't come down.. I dont expect any trade soon… between many teams cap situations and his very high demands to be top 3 paid…. I just don't see teams jumping up and down to go there.. on top of the prospect/draft capital to acquire him. Assuming Boston even considers a trade.. they don't have to. I hope he sits… all year long.. let him lose a full season… all that money you're trying to get… just pissed down the drain.
It feels like the Bruins would like an AAV for Swayman that allows them to also sign Tyler Johnson for this year, and to leave room for re-signing other key players in the upcoming years, even with cap increases. Their prospects are developing but it's not clear that enough of those ELC players will be on the team this year to enable them to make the playoffs and make a run. I really like Swayman's game and in-game attitude, however his agent and management's media comments seem to have created a divorce situation that should have been avoided. If a trade occurs, it will be a sad outcome to think of 'what might have been.'
I heard and my not be tue but that Montreal was making inquiries into Swayman. They are offering Cayden Primeau, Denis Savard, Logan Mailloux and a pick.
Basically, I think the recent comments have killed his taste for signing in Boston.

Regarding preseaon they should leave the timegrame and amount of games. Having said that,the first 2 games shoukd be a split squad games (making it technically 4 games) to see the kids in action, then the last 2 like normal. Same amount of games but less wear and tear on the players. Good idea in my mind but who knows?

And u need to be there practice before real game u must ready play over 45 games. The league needs to crack down on brutal checks in preseason. Its preseason. To take out a talented player on an opposing team in preseason just shows the agenda of a desperate team.
