  1. Trouba we knew was gone. But is Chevy even attempting to try to keep the other top D-men? Did he even give them an offer? He's letting the blue line be dismantled, still hasn't signed Connor or Laine, and they still don't have a legit second line center.

  2. While it's frustrating that the Habs needed a top 4 offensive LD and instead signed Chairot, they did need to replace Benn. A left side of Mete, Kulak, Chairot, Reilly is probably the worst leaguewide though, no?

  3. What in the world are the Jets doing? Lol. I'm calling it now, the jets will miss the playoffs next year.

  4. Do the Jets have some amazing D prospects? If not the Sabs have a glut of NHL D, just not Risto, he needs a year under Krueger to show his worth to a coach that plays a good system.

  5. doesnt make sense for gardiner, we have mete , kulak , chiarot , reilly, folin on that side, who do you push out ? cant push out chiarot and mete, and kulak been pretty good

  6. Classic Montreal overpayment but Bergevin didnt have much of a choice.. the blue line needed to improve. Just feel like 2-2.5 million per would have been more fair for what Chiarot provides

  7. Numbers are inflated playing with the Jets with the habs I'm guessing he's below average. The terms fine the actual cap hit is rough for what he is.

  8. I'm with you man Chiarot was a solid stay at home defenceman, that keep people from the net and cleared the rebounds, the Jets are screwed, no Truba, Meyers now Chiarot, they might as well ship Buff somewhere and start their rebuild, because they are definitely NOT going anywhere now!!!

  9. I love yours videos a lot, Ive discover you last week, and you do a really great work, keep it up!

You have one more sub from french Canada!

  10. Solid addition for Montreal. He can block shots, hit, play a lot of minutes. You need guys like this in the playoffs.

  11. I love parity as well. As a Red Wings fan that may sound odd, but I do. I'd rather see them win fewer cups but deserve them than more cups simply because they paid more than the other teams could. Oh, and watching blowouts is rarely fun. That's another big reason.

  12. Jets fan here: It's AT LEAST 1M too much for Chiarot. Sure, he blocks shots and throws checks but other than that?

I feel funny even saying that: I thought it was known by now, that every hockey data analyst by now has established the fact, that the "good ol tough shot blocking defensemen" aren't worth top 4 minutes and therefore obviously aren't worth a top 4 contract.

When Chiarot played top 4 minutes on the Jets, over the last couple of years, he mainly did it alongside Dustin Byfuglien. Not because he's a top 4 defenseman. Next to Buff, PLENTY of defenseman can look great because they aren't asked to do any of the hard things you want your defense to be able to do in todays NHL … like picking the quick outlet pass to start the rush. Sure, he holds his ground around the net. And that is it actually. In general, Ben Chiarot is pretty awful at moving the puck, getting it out of the zone and distributing it. He even tends to have big brain farts, has an average at best gap control and not a great stick. So yeah, the only thing he's actually pretty good at is blocking shots and throwing hits. If you're one of those people believing that's something you'd want to pay your NHL defenseman a top 4 contract for… well I guess go ahead. If you don't, you're not that happy with the signing.

Would I have taken Chiarot back on the Jets? Yes, for 1year at 2M. Maybe 2 yearst at 3M, if he prefers the term over the money per year.
