This is how I would assemble the special teams units for this weekend. Hughes will eventually replace Casey on PP2 and Pesce will replace Kovacevic on PK1. In the meantime, I think the Devils still have fairly solid units. I’d like Haula on PP2 for his faceoff ability, but at the same time, it’s not worth it if it means removing Mercer from that unit. If anything, Palat or Tatar would come off but Palat is strong on the walls and Tatar is good on transitions for zone entry. What does everyone think? Any changes from what I have?

Casey has literally zero NHL minutes he should not be quarterbacking a powerplay….we saw how that goes last season after Hamilton went down and we tried to force Luke into that spot….we’ve acquired several veteran defensemen so no Casey shouldn’t be out there yet
Nemec should QB PP2. Casey doesn’t have the experience.
I think Noesen should be on PP1, honestly. He’s probably the best netfront guy we have.
Mercer will be on the penalty kill more often than not if he plays well.

You need a face off man for PP2, thats Haula. I’d take out one of Tatar/Palat or both and try Nemec and Casey or just Nemec.
One of your PK units needs to be Haula/Mercer. They have killed penalties together for a bit now.
I’d also say Cotter gets a look at the PK at some point too and you cycle in dudes like Palat/Lazar as needed on the PK.
