SAN FRANCISCO — The Giants locked up star third baseman Matt Chapman on Wednesday night, announcing a six-year, $151 million contract extension that will keep the four-time Gold Glove winner in San Francisco through the 2030 season.

Chapman will earn $25 million in each of the next six seasons and receive a $1 million signing bonus in 2025. The new deal marks the biggest contract the Giants have handed out since Farhan Zaidi took over as president of baseball operations in November 2018, edging the six-year, $113 million pact former KBO star Jung Hoo Lee signed in December. It’s also the second-richest deal in franchise history, trailing only the nine-year, $167 million contract extension Buster Posey received in 2013.

A good contract for the Giants until the last two years, when he's old and injury-prone…if he ages like the proverbial fine wine, still a good contract.
Chapman got what he wanted, presumably, good for him
Probably will have more rbi if the rest of the team can sync better in offense. Overall, the team has been up and down in various time. Soler struggled all the way until he is moved. Estrada sent down, Wade Jr, Luciano, Jung Ho Lee ended the season, and so on… The team needs to keep improving before it can truly compete. Forgot the LAD, focus on the team taking steps forward – draft better.
The Giants has a bright future already. Let's translated that into play on the fields. Go Giants!

I'm pretty bitter about all things A's except for the ongoing careers of the former Athletics that we loved. So stoked for Matt, I'll always root for him.
I'll basically never begrudge an athlete securing the bag, but his shockingly high WAR this season doesn't even begin to pass the eye test for me. I don't believe he has a legitimate extra gear offensively anymore either. But the Giants are notorious for their eternally middling lineups randomly punching way above their weight class any given season on a fairly regular basis over the past 15 years or so, so I won't be surprised if he catches that rising tide & makes me look like an idiot at least once. I just feel like y'all are gonna that have to lean on that clubhouse presence and recruiting bollocks to justify this deal in your heads a lot harder than y'all are prepared for.
