Found a fellow Canucks fan in Yokohama, Japan

I went to the opening game of the season for my local hockey team. I always make a point of trying to find other NHL jerseys during the intermissions.

During the first intermission, I met a local who just so happened to also be wearing a Demko jersey. Turns out he studied abroad in Vancouver and became a huge Canucks fan while there!

We sat next to each other the rest of the game and walked back to the train station together, chatting about Vancouver, hockey, and Tim Hortons the whole way. Looking forward to cheering on my local team with a fellow Canucks fan for the rest of the season!

Notes: I’ve covered his face because I’m not sure how he would feel about having his face shared online. I’m sure he’d be fine, but just in case.

Yokohama is actually the Japanese sister city of Vancouver.

Our mascot is also a whale, and he/she is adorable. (yes, I know orcas are technically not a whales)

And of course, thank Mr.Demko

I went to a Grits game last year and Canucks were definitely the most represented team there. Also chatted with a guy from Victoria! If you want to find a Canadian abroad, just head to the ice rink 😂

That’s awesome! Is it the Yokohama Grits? I’ve always wanted to watch their games since I live in Kanagawa too!

Always cool to meet a fellow fan unexpectedly! I’m usually too nervous to say hello unless they instigate.

Also, props for respecting his privacy with the censorship. 😊

That is my former exchange student! I introduced to hockey here in Canada during his exchange and took him to many Victoria Royals games as I have seasons tickets! We would also regularly watch Canucks games on TV. I was so happy to have a hockey buddy and that he fell in love with the sport!
