“I don’t want to hide Lane Hutson…we want Lane Hutson to turn into the best defenseman that he can become. If he needs to improve his game and he’s better off in the AHL, we’ll send him to Laval. But we won’t keep him in the NHL just to turn him into a powerplay specialist.” – Kent Hughes today

that’s what i like to hear another common went wughes W

  3. Awkward-Farmer-1274

Went Wughes is the smartest man alive

  4. Longshanks123

It’s hard not to think that a small defenceman coming out of the NCAA at just 20 years old wouldn’t need at least a year of development in the AHL.

He would need to blow some minds at training camp. Thing is, he just might.

Gonna trust the staff with whatever they decide for this guy

Lotta balls Hughes… Most of this bipolar fanbase don’t think like that.

  6. Grouchy-Bug5223

Ughh like he’s not Wrong but I just wanna see Hutson in the NHL lol I’ve waited long enough 🥺 just gimmie the thing

  7. AmsroII

    Matheson – Guhle

Hutson – Savard 2nd pairing. Book it.

    Xhekaj – Barron 3rd pairing.

Issue with Hutson is he still needs to develop into a man’s body. He’s 5’10 and weighs 162lbs according to hockeydb. Who are you controlling as a D with that?

  9. YoungMetro_

As a fan, I wouldn’t mind seeing Hutson – Reinbacher in Laval just so that I could see them play for cheap haha

  10. DCARRI3R3

Hot take but this is exactly why I think Logan Mailloux has a higher chance of making the roster then lane

This man sticks to the plan like he sticks to his hairstyle… absolutely refreshing to have a front office with vision and the capacity to block the outside noise.

Not all dman need to be physical remember.

Did Lidstrom ever throw a hit or use the body? Rarely. Slavin?

With elite IQ, he can break the mold.

  13. YellowSubreddit8

Slaf was not ready the first year and he paid the price. At some point I started to doubt he would shake off that huge hit.

Now he’s got his confidence back but it can break prospects when they are not ready physically.

  14. Cdn_Medic

Thank God. He needs the AHL to mature into a man’s body. He’s got mad skills, but if he can improve his defensive game he’ll be an actual threat.

  15. G_skins31

I really don’t see what the point of moving the rockets to Laval was for if our prospects just skip that stage of development.

I remember when we had one of the best ahl teams in Hamilton and it produce tons of talent for us and it was because player would have to earn there way on to the Habs by playing in the AHL and riding the bus for years.

IMO Hutson, Reinbecher, Mailloux and Roy should all be playing there this year at the very minimum

  16. GangWeed999

To the people saying the 2 game Hutson played last year were meaningless, well Detroit was playing do or die hockey, this was the highest level of regular season hockey Hutson could’ve played and he delivered

  17. KoreanPhones

As much as I want to watch Hutson in the show this year. If Kent Hughes thinks he should be in the AHL then that’s the right choice.

    HUGO can do no wrong.

Spoken like a man who has his employer’s full confidence.

I’m glad Molson finally bit the bullet and embraced the rebuild. Laine is the closest thing to a shortcut, and even then is a low risk gamble that could pay off in spades.

  19. Goat_Lovers_

God damn that man has such a ridiculously good plan and a great vision

  20. JustFred24

There’s a chance he starts in the AHL, but I’m banking on him having a banger training camp. He’s likely gonna be the best player there.
