why on Earth would he be unhappy? He is going to a better situation for him. He has 5x the earning potential in stlouis. Also, one of those two teams has won the cup recently and its not the oilers. The oilers are cooked now with Stan as your GM, Getting out of there before he covers up another felony is the smart move.
He blew it… 1) Being Calgarian, he was close to friends and family 2) Not a better team in the NHL than the Oil, in how they treat their players 3) Oilers are one big happy family 4) US horrible to live in…too much violence and instability 5) he could have been playing with the greatest player ever to have ever have laced up skates 6) Oilers have an incredible chance to win the cup
for what?….$1.2m extra?…(I know, it is a lot of money, but with patience, he could be making 5x that in 6-7 years)
Deal will end up costing him money in the long run. He would’ve made more points and got a better contract later. He will definitely not put up as many points and do as well on st.Louis
Oilers caused this issue They needed to have locked these guys up at Christmas like they were told to internally. Just didn’t. Even had they accepted the 1.8 Broberg asked for they wouldn’t have been in the situation! Needed to be done before they signed external FA’s

It was said by insiders early that his manager had to convince him to sign the offer sheet. Sucks to see him go
He called it bittersweet. That’s a pretty telling line in an opening press availability

Feelin' the blues….

I’m still surprised they didn’t
But had he signed for 1.8 I think he would have
That’s last .6 would have been the over the cap amount
