When Laine is cooking he's one of my favorite players to watch. Dude just twitches and goes bar down from the top of the circle, I love it. Love the trade.
As a Habs fan, I am incredible hype by this trade, we take a bit of a risk, yes but a good risk for a few reasons. First Laineās contract only lasted for 2 more years and most of our prospects (Demidov, Pages and Fowler for example) will not get there big contracts before the end of Laineāa contract. Second, eventhough Harris was a great D-man, I donāt saw him long term in Montreal because he have so many young defenders. So it he really not a bad thing for the organization to lose him. And, finally we have a second round pick on top of that, it just some icing on the cake at this point.
laine needs what laine has always needed, someone to set him up, if he gets that, we could see a 50 goal season, if he doesnt get it, he might not even break 30
We have the cap space to see if we can cook something up with Laine and if not he'll be gone in 2 years. We'll still have close of 10M of space with Price entering the LTIR and close 20M next year (including Laine's contract and all our young guys are signed).
Worst case Laine is just Laine and Montreal locker room/staff/Marty St-Louis doesn't change him, it's going to be Columbus 2nd for Harris which that alone is a steal
All we need to do is lock up a starting goalie and this is easily a playoff team. We've got the scoring now, we've got the D, we just need someone on the back end that can give up fewer than 3 goals a game.
I'm kinda surprised Cbus got so much for a player who hardly played last year needing to go into the assistance program. Feels like a lot of guys careers have ended who had to do so
Dach and Laine have the potential to be really good together on the 2nd line if both can stay healthy. We saw the positive impact St. Louis had on Caufield, so I'm sure he'll help Laine as well.
"Montreals not in a position to compete"… Holy people, you're forgetting that, once again, we had a bunch of injuries… I think we'll be pushing for a playoff spot this year
Well hes slow lazy and wont help a terrible team… Great signing tho..??? Lol. Ladt place this years habs? Oh i think its more possible niw withbthis guy on your team. Lol. I say 2 and a half weeks before u want his head ā¤. Lol. Good luck
Laine is low risk, high reward for the Habs. His biggest challenge will be to stay healthy, if he plays 60+ games that's a dub. Harris is good but unfortunately was the odd d-man out. Love what Habs management is doing, Kent Hughes is a genius.
Laine is a waste of time. Heās going to Montreal to collect a check and not do anything. Heās happy just drawing a check. Heās meh at best. Heās happy to be on a team with no expectations where he can just blend into the background. His attitude and character is his problem. Heās terrible. Him in Montreal fits. Bye Patrick
I think it's basically a good chance for him to prove himself that he's still got it on a team that's giving him that chance. Also the capwages site is basically formatted like capfriendly so a good alternative

Eckcellant work!
Anybody who takes the whole salary of inconsistent Laine, takes a huuuge risk, although only two years left of it.
I'm sorry but this is an awful move, another $7 million scorer who MIGHT play 50 games a season is no where near the right move for the Canadiens

The Laine+Roslovic/Dubois deal is gonna be one wild trade tree

So yes it is a incroyable trade

When you finally get to leave Ohio
Its not a risk for us.

Harris is a stable defencemen and Columbus was seriously lacking defence depth.
Kent is a genius. Flipping Harris for a 2nd rounder and potential 40 goal score is masterful.
Laine is a bum, but Montreal did fleece Columbus.
I am no habs fan but gotta love any trade that hypes up a fanbase. Cant wait for this season to get started
USE PUCK PEDIA …
Canadiens will be a playoff team in 2026

The Jets are the real winners
I really hope his game picks up in Montreal, I'd hate to see him flop after all that has happened.
CBJ fan here. We love Patty Laine but he's always hurt. Gaudreau is smaller and always plays. I don't see either team in playoffs next year.
If Laine scores 25 goals, fans in Montreal are so desperate for a superstar player they will treat him like a God.
I saw some Habs fan suggesting a line with Patrick Laine, Kirby Dach and Juraj Slafkovsky to be one of the biggest line in the NHL.
I don't want to take Slaf off the 1st line with Suzuki and Caufield.
I'd like to see Dach with Laine and Josh Anderson, all three are big and all three need to prove themselves now.
Demidov is not here yet and we're already pushing Newhook and Gallagher out of the top6. Every Habs fan like me are on cloud 9 right now.
Laine has 18 months to prove he is worth 8+M$. My confidence level is at 90% or more.
Also, very glad that we did not go for PLD, I have no confidence in that player, but Laine is exciting, hope he stays healthy. Same for Dach.
Low risk high reward. Worst case scenario we are stuck with a damaged player a year or two. Best case we sign a 50 goals scorer long term.
CBJ is saving about 7m is ACTUAL money. I understand we think of cap space, someone is signing a check.

Heās still a great Fortnite player so that will help the Canadians
Heās gonna outscore Matthewās this year

Nice to see Jake Busey in a Habs jersey.

I think Laine will be energized by this change of scenery.
Habs will be right there if they stay healthy, especially Laine and Dach
I disagree if Laine can stay healthy and they get the goaltending they have enough firepower to win now go HABS go
