  1. Canucks just didnt have space on the roster bottom 6 after signing sprong and sherwood. I guess take what you can get for him, alvin isnt dont cooking. Canucks have 3,5 mil in cap after ltir, probably trade to offload someone else a pick or 2 for a top 4 man

  2. I like Podkolzin personally, I like how he plays and I think with a new coach he could go back to being much more productive.

  3. Tomorrow is going to be exciting! I'm wondering the same, is Podkolzin going to stay in Edmonton? Or is he going to be packaged with Ceci to clear space?

  4. I think he is the Holloway replacement. I hate to see Hollywood go but the reality is he isn't worth what we'd have to pay him now with the offer sheet situation. Hopefully this means Podkolzin is a cheaper alternative to Holloway, and we spend the money to keep hold of Broberg. For my money Broberg stepped up massively in the cup run last season where as Holloway didn't really do much. I think we need to put the cash behind him and watch him develop into the player he could be.

  5. I'm calling a shocker. The Oilers are going to trade Kulak to the Blues, they are going to throw in the 3rd the Blues gave up for signing Halloway. So then the Oilers will be able to match Broberg and in the end the Blues will get Halloway and Kulak for nothing.

  6. I love Holloway too. But this is actually strategic for the oil. Broberg has so much upside and dev potential, plus that's who STL wanted primarily and the Bowman Armstrong rivalry was probably a fuck you back from Bowman

  7. Holloway was going g to be on the 3rd or 4th line anyway. Save 1.2m on n a defensively minded winger to play the 4th line… I’ll take it.

  8. This was a good move for the Canucks. Looking at their depth, it’s highly unlikely Podkolzin makes the team out of camp. If he doesn’t, he’s not waivers exempt so they lose him for nothing. This way, they get a 4th, shed a million in cap immediately and have a better idea of what the roster looks like pending a big training camp from one of the young Abby guys. There was no room for him. Do you want to lose him for nothing or a 4th? Rutherford is known for getting ahead of these situations and this was no exception. I love how quickly fans turn on him after a surprisingly good season and the loss of a fringe player that many fans were already calling a bust.

  9. I think it’s a good trade low risk trade but podkolzen would play 4th or 3rd line

  10. awful trade, yes they could not send him down because he would be claimed off waivers, but no one could bump him from that extra spot anyway, a 4th round pick is nothing
